so before WLS I dr's office called me and told me WLS was covered by my insurance but did not pay for Nut, so I said how much is Nut visit? she gave me the phone # to billing. so I called and she said an Office visit is $25 a visit, with 3 being the max.  hmmm. ok, not bad.  So now after several visits and i'm sure several more to come I'm getting a little upset cause my nut bills are coming in at $100. a visit? wow, I think that is quite a bit difference from my quote.  I hope I don't have to see my Nut everytime I go in for a small fill, every 4 weeks.  I enjoy seeing her and have learned alot, but you get my drift??? plus paying for 10 % of everything else, this is additing up fast.  I know, I know, I deserve it, blah blah blah, but I could be using this money else where, why do we have insurance? I hate useing up this money when I could be helping my kids instead, i dont' like being quoted one thing just to get business? grrr

Ya know, I used to say the same things, I didn't want to spend money on myself so I could have money for my kids and grands...but....without me they wouldn't get the money anyway...SOOOOOOO getting healthier and spending the money on you makes you healthier to be around longer, to have more energy etc etc.
I think you are worth it!!! But hey, that is just my opinion! LOL
hugs, honey,

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

You dont happen to remember who quoted you? That would be nice, because I certainly would be calling back and saying that you were quoted $ per visit, with 3 being the max, now you would like to know what is going on with the $100. a visit. And see what they say about that? I certainly know what you mean, you ask for a quote and then it is what three times the amnt quoted? I would also explain the situation that you can not afford it,  you figured in the amnt quoated to you, that is reasonable. You also figured 3 max visits the nut, so now with the price at $100.00 you really would like not to see the nut unless there is an issue.

I got  a quote from the bariatric center that fills are $60.00, I am hoping I only have to pay my office co-pay, my surgery was done as out patient which meant I only had to pay my surgeon $10.00, they required $500.00 deposit up front, before scheduling surgery date even knowing what my insurance was, that was hard to do.

I am sorry for what you are going through, I know its hard to have insurance and to pay for it, then to have something like this, like I said I am lucky with my insurance.

I will have you in my thoughts and prayers.
Please let me know how you make out!

$60 a fill, wow, mine are $500.   yes, I am worth it, that isnt' the point, i am saying I was quoted one thing and am being charged something else.  That just isn't right, I've been taken for many rides in just this last year, and feel being misquoted by a professional, that you trust isn't a nice thing to do.  It was the Hospital billing that quoted me that, not dr's office.

wow, $500.00, thats way out there, sorry to hear that, I know its not the point that you are worth, I understand its the quoted point, thats why if you remember who quoted the $25.00 I would try to make them stick to it, did you get it in writting?, me I wouldnt have thought to, I would have taken them at their word........ Are you going to call them and ask the hospital for another quote as a stranger and see what they say? maybe they will quote you the same again, get it in writting and you will have that to fight with??? just a thought..............
it was not professional of the hospital to misquote the amnt, that is a big mistake! of a lot of money.....
please let me know how you make out.................. I hope you are going to do something.....

G'morning Cheryl...I agree with Kate...BUT...a quote is a quote !!  I'd be calling billing again and asking "WHY" were you quoted one price and charged another...??  Good Luck !!

The medical world is one of the only places where the prices aren't up-front. It's amazing the different rates out there. But also a shame that the quote wasn't honored.

I'd be giving the billing dept a phone call and explaining the quote and what you were billed.

The hospital billing office probably quoted you a normal nutritional visit with the education department not a nut visit in Dr. Loggins office.  Unfortunately, they are not the same and do have different prices.

I agree you should call back to check and see what info they have on your quote as they do track that info, but unfortunately, when they give the quote they always tell you it's just an estimate and can be higher or lower.

I only comment on this because I work for the hospital and can assure you the staff do everything they can to quote the correct price the first time.  Believe me when I say the last thing they want is a patient to call back upset because of the bill they received!  They take over a 1000 phone calls a week and the 4 staff members in customer service are very professional and reliable.

Are you sure you called the billing office?  They would not have been able to quote your max benifits of three visits...that could only come from your insurance or the office.

Kim at dr loggins office told me to call, and gave me the number, they looked up my record and gave me the estimate for Dr's office Nut.  NOt sure, gonna ask Kim why, when I go next week.  If I only have to see the Nut once or twice a year, I am find with that, as long as I dont have to see her at every fill visit, every 4 weeks, that is just too much money.  If I have a problem fine.... I will check in with them... thank you all,

Wonder if they thought you had a co pay for the nut visits and that is where the $25.00 quote came from.
