Oh my guys....I had some potatoe with sour cream today...Ive had it before...but 4 bites in...I had a horrible feeling in my chest...like I was going to throw up.....

The pain in my chest and how long it took to come up...I was in the bathroom for 1 hour!! I finally made myself throw up which I didnt want to...but all it took was putting my figer on my tounge and up it all came.

Im a little shaky now...but feel WAY better. Is this normal???? Back to REALLY mushy food for me....

Think of your new little pouch like a newborns tummy. You need to introduce new things one at a time. Sometimes also you can have something that agrees with you many times then bang for some reason it makes you sick. Usually the pain is because you either ate to fast didn't chew well enough or something got stuck. Neither of which is very pleasent. Good Luck and heres hoping you do not have to experience it again.

Melissa, I can't help you there, but I can imagine how scary that is?  Is it better to make yourself sick?? or deal with it till it goes away,  What hurts your tummy more?  I had some pasta salad on Sat. and had 2 bites and got stuck, I stopped right away and it went away quickly,  so far, knock on wood i've been pretty lucky, but then again, I don't have any or much that I know of, restriction.  I am worried when I do get a "Good Restriction" I will eat too fast or overdo, and THEN get sick like you did, since i've had it so easy and not followed all my rules to a "T" . I have read when something like this happends you should have liquids or muchies rest of day, is this the same for you as for the Band???  take it easy and have a better day.  Hugs, Cheryl

Glade to hear you are better. Getting stuck is NO FUN at all. It hurts as much for us Bandsters as it does for RNY. I don't get stuck too often but have done a few times and it is a killer. I've been told that after a fill or being sick I should stick to soft foods  or protein shakes to rest the band. I would think it would be the same for you to rest the pouch. It does take a lot out of you, take a nap and rest.  Take care ~~~~ Linda

wow!  I haven't had that feeling yet (thank you GOD!)  but I can sure sympathize!  Like Kathy said, sometimes food you ate one time can be fine and the next time, make you really sick!  I'm sorry you had to go through this.  Make sure you are chew, chew, chewing.  Sounds like it may have gotten stuck......kinda odd for soft/mushy potato, but I guess it can happen!  I'd stick with liquids the rest of the day.....don't want to irritate your pouchy anymore than it already is!  Remember, too, that you have any other issues, you should call your doc...don't take any chances!!!!   Hope you feel better REALLY soon!  Get some rest and keep sipping!   Ruth

That has happened to me but it was from eating too fast.  I used a baby spoon and that has helped slow down with small bites.  Hope you feel better

That has happened 3 times to me since surgery and the first time was agony cause I didn't know what to do, after that I just immediately went to the br and made myself throw up, I use the end of my toothbrush instead of my finger!! It is killer pain, and ususally for me is that I have forgotten and eaten a bit too fast, not mindfully!! in other words, the OLD way, and sure enough I pay.  Nice to know the pouch IS small and working, but owie.
Just take it easy the rest of the day, have a protein shake instead of a snack so you can get more protein for today, and take it slow.
Love ya!!
