Oh my....that was TOO much like work!!!!
I decided to change things up a bit as I was running out of daylight but needed to get some exercise in. SOOOO...I took the old bike out for a ride!!!!!! I did 4 miles!!!!! WOW! That's A LOT harder than walking!!!!!!!! I knew our back woods roads out here were hilly, but riding that bike sure made it even harder!!!!! I ended up walking, pushing the bike, up the last hill to our house! 4.75 miles total in about 30 minutes.
(.7 of it walking uphill with the bike on the soft shoulder of the road) I think I need a nap now!!!!
Hope everyone had a great day!!!!!! Enjoy this wonderful weather!!!!!!!!!!!
honks! Ruth

You were moving to get almost 5 miles in 30 minutes biking and walking!!!! You were working. I bet you'll be able to bike up those hills soon.

I bought a bike post op and I find it much harder workout than just walking. Those hills are a killer!!!
My son is a diabetic and we both want to ride in the Tour de Cure next spring. It should be fun and I will be ready for it by then. I would love to do a 5K someday too. I need to try the couch to 5K program. I have never been a runner but I think it is something I want to try now.

I started the couck to 5k while I was still out on leave after surgery and then had to stop when I got pneumonia....just couldn't stop coughing and walking was tough, so jogging was out for sure! There are some cool podcasts, for free, on iTunes. Some guy made them and the music is kinda odd..but he tells you when to start running and stop, etc. It worked pretty well for me until I had to stop. I'm kinda doing my own program for now....walk for a while, jog for as long as I can, then, walk, etc. I've found that my knee (I hurt it last year) starts acting up if I try to jog for too long. Hopefully it will get better! Good luck if you decide to try it! Let me know how it goes! Ruth
You all are wonderful...thanks for the support and words of encouragement! BTW...my butt is STILL too big for that little seat too, but, surprisingly, it wasn't too sore afterwards. That was a shocker! All the time I was riding though, it felt like every car that went by was staring at me and saying "What does that fat girl think she's doing on that bike....the poor bike!!!!!!" I just had to laugh!!!!!!!
