Questions of my own now....
I guess I just need some ideas because of all the "bad" choices I've been making the past few days. I figured all you wonderful buddies out here could help me......so....
1. Do you all log your protein, fluids, and calories?
2. If you do.....are you making your protein and fluid goals AND how many calories are you averaging? (You see, I think I am eating too much at this point)
3. How many meals and snacks do you have each day? Could you give me a sample of what you eat in a day?
4. Do you feel, at times, that your "pouch" can hold more than it should?
5. Do you still measure all your food? If so, how much can you eat at one "meal/snack"?
( I think I am eating too many "slider" foods that don't stay with me long enough.) You are all wonderful and I look forward to your suggestions and comments! Thanks!!!!!!!!! Ruth
Ruth, you are certainly the wrong person to be asking these questions, you know more about what to do for success then most of us. Just take a few steps back and regroup. You know what to do. actually, you might still continue to do well, with what your doing right now. Eat well, continue your walking and you will be just fine. I'm sure the weight will continue to drop. I am going back to counting everything tomorrow, I"ve taken a few weeks off and I ate way too much the last 2 days, I think i'm gonna blow up.... good luck this week, keep us posted, Hugs, Cheryl
I don't log everyday, but "check in " with myself about once a weeek, to get an idea what I am eating for calories.
I get my protein in, count that EVERYDAY, start out every day with protein shake and skim milk which gets me 38 gr for breakfast...
Not hungry at all even at lunchtime, but force about 1/2 c of salad greens with 1 or 2 oz of chic.(14 gr)
Hungrier in afternoon, have protein, like 1 oz of cheese, (measured dice size)with 4 or 5 WW crackers.(8-10 gr) Now about 62 gr of protein
Dinner is the hardest meal for me, I am not hungry, I really want to eat with DH, and make meat veggies and potato or rice..so can eat about 1 or 2 oz of meat, 1/4 c of rice, and a couple of tbsp of green veggie
at night I have a SF fugicle for snack and before bed...
I measure in that I really put to memory the "deck of cards", dice, etc .
Like Cheryl said, you are doing extraordinarily well, one of the real pros at all this, why the issues do you think? Is it some head hunger going on? The more protein, which is the denser foods, the less I eat anything else...
Hope this helps, hang in there girl, you are still such a big loser!! No worries!
love kate
It was magic when she realized who she had become...

96 lbs lost and gone forever!! To God goes the Glory!
Finally it moved!
Thanks gals! I KNOW I have some head hunger going on and I can fight that pretty well. It just feels like I can eat too much. As I said in the earlier post, maybe it's because the stuff I'm eating just isn't "staying" with me? I dunno! I've turned into a blueberry addict!!!! I can eat a bunch of them! (or at least what I think is a bunch...the kids say it's nothing, but 1/2 cup seems like a lot to me!) I had 2 ounces of tuna with low fat mayo and 2 tbsp of salsa mixed in for supper (it's good, you should try it!) and got it all down without a problem! It seems like I can eat anything and not get sick (I DON'T eat everything, but I hope you get the idea!) Guess I am just worrying too much?!?!? btw...I don't FEEL like a "pro"! I question everything that I put into my mouth! YIKES! Thanks ladies!!!!!!
Wow , You sounded just like me at that stage of the game, stage 1 I felt OH my God how can anyone live on this amount and your mind says eat more your gonna die, and you cant do it, then you embrace this smalll amounts and when we start to eat a bit more normal, As in 1/2 cup is a true portion size the entire world should be eating, we feel overwhelmed that we will gain, so bottom line is, at this stage if you feel like your eating to much reassure yourself that your not by measuring and counting again, because WE ARE our worst enemies, THIS TIME IS different we are not gaining the weight back this time, dont let your body start to tell you different,
I can eat which feels like a ton of salad greens to me and popcorn for snack later, ( I asked nut to try it) and any kind of nuts, wich have a lot of calories, so I will put them up high so I have to get a chair to get the can, and put some in baggies, and eat only one baggy instead of grabbing the can, because I know me, that part hasnt changed, hehe so I trick myself, it gives me time to re think my choice if i have to go get the chair, hey its working now.. but its a portion fight forever, its making the good choices that fill us up helps..
and calories not to worry for now, protein comes first, I still do not count calories, I count proteins I'm down to only needing 60now, wich is soo easy..
I do the same Kate as begin my day feeding the fire, with protein , I like it with water, isopure mango peach I add flavor pack of unsweetened koolaid orange and its so refreshing, not thick at all, I get 30 + oz of fluid and 30 plus protein to start my day and the rest day goes easier, I have energy and helps make good choices,
I felt exactly like you at that stage, I told DR.T I feel like am eating too much , he said I gaurntee you your not, and that I would still lose more weight, as I felt when I started to eat more that this was the end of my weight loss etc, but its not its just a stage and those portions you are eating are what the nut calls normal,, we just learn to eat more normal portion ,our brain now calls huge because it just got used to the 2 oz from before.. now it needs to get used to the NORmal sizes..
journaling is my answer, its my reality, It shocks me everytime, what i thought I ate and when I see it written it becomes reality.. It really works and is the way to stay accountable, these are our forever tools to use, and its ok to feel all these changes.. Its a new way of life each stage.
YOu inspire us , WE believe in you, now its time for you to believe in you, 100 percent%
This time its different much different... Its forever... We have each other, we have tools we have support ,
and I have things I"m addicted to at different stages, our tastes change, enjoy your blue poop Ruth, theres antioxidants, low sugar and nothing like enjoying as long as your protein fluid and exercise are in, its to enjoy!
Questioning everything you put in your mouth IS A PRO!!!
Its more then half the battle, no more unmindful eating wooo this is good stuff Ruth!!
thanks for sharing! hugs happiness, this ride is going to get even better! Hold on,

Yeah I am a log freak lol I log everything
I go over with my protein most days and do well with fluids too
I have maybe one snack a day
Yeah sometimes I feel like my pouch holds way more but its soft foods like eggs n such
I eyeball more then measure at this point but think measuring may be in the future. I am supposed to be on the 800 to 1000 calorie part now. It is gonna have to be gradual that is all I can say.
Your doing just fine Ruth to have come this far already. Shows your on top of to be questioning though. Keeping youself in check.
Ruth,
I do not log or measure. I just keep it in my head . I also have 2 or 3 snack a day. yes i feel alot of times my pouch holds more than what I am suppose to eat. but I sure know when I have ate to much. I dont get that way too often unless I have gone to long without eating then I over eat.not good but I try to have something every 2 -3 hours. then I dont eat so much. I can eat a whole sandwich with whole wheat bread with slice of cheese and cold cuts. Im full but not over full. the more active I am the more i feel hungry. I just say its my body is saying I need more fuel. We cant run a car on empty so why do we ask our body too. I get the shakes if I go to long without eating almost passed out a couple of times. SO now I dont try to do the stupid things I use too before I had this surgery. I am still very lactose. I usually do protein shake with my coffee but lately it hasnt been agreeing. but I do know I get all my protein in. Im doing about 64oz water or better everyday..
Your doing a fine job always good to check yourself but dont worry you are fine. I am going today for my year check up since surgery. The official day is July 20th but have appointment today.
Have a great day.
Barb
Thank you ALL! for the reassurance! I think a big part is my mind playing tricks on me...head hunger and portion sizes are just part of this whole equation! I STILL log everything..(DH was giving me a hard time on Saturday because I ate 2 doritos and 1 mini Chips ahoy cookie and I was checking out the package so I could do the math and figure out how much that "cost" me according to the actual serving size....like I said, not a couple of good choices, but, still kept my calories in check!) I think I'm back on track today...working helps me alot as I don't have access to food/snacks, except for what I pack in my lunch box!) I'll figured it out...eventually!
Thanks again everyone!!!!!! What would I do without ALL of you?!?!?!?! hugs! Ruth
You're doing great! Try not to worry --although easier said than done.
I don't log anymore, but I check in with myself for 1 day a week just to make sure. I stick to similar things each day, so I'm not worried about it.
I have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Easy for me since the babies are on the same schedule.
I do an achiev protein drink for breakfast (20g protein) and sometimes a 1/2 of a banana
Lunch I will have a piece of reduced fat provolone with some turkey patrami rolled in it (2 of them)--or left overs
Mid afternoon snack I will do a yogurt, or cottage cheese, fruit, or cheese stick
Dinner I mostly have meat (3 oz or less if I have sides). I will have 1/4 cup of veggies with my dinner too.
Pm snack I usually do protein chips (already portioned out), or some sf ice cream (my new favorite is homemade protein ice cream from eggface).
I feel like I can eat more too sometimes, but it is definitely with the slider foods **** cream, pudding, yogurt--yes blueberries). When I eat dinner with my meat I know when I have had enough because I start burping ha ha.
I think it would be really hard this far out to over ate. Graze -yes, but overeat in one siiting-no.
If you have a certain # of meals and snacks set you won't graze. It's a life change, we won't always make the best choices, but we pick ourselves up. I have had some McD grilled chicken from inside the wrap when we have to get something quick and are out---and I just can't beat myself up over it. We're living, and so far successful :)
Our portions are not like they used to be, and everything I have is practically sf, so I figure I'm using the tool as best I can.
