Do you mind me asking when you got your surgery date?  I saw Dr. Huang last week and he said they were going to petittion my insurance....I'm really hoping for a date in August....I see yours is on the 11th so I'm hoping you were scheduled recently.  Thanks!

Of course I don't mind! What are we here for if not to answer each other's questions! I got my date on June 6th, two weeks after they submitted it to MaineCare for approval. So there was about a 2 month wait between then and when he would do my surgery. Yours may be faster though. I understand that they only take one or two MaineCare patients a month because of reimbursement issues, so if you have private insurance it might be much quicker. Good luck.

Unfortunately I also have mainecare.....the only problem is I won't have mainecare after August 31st because our income goes over the limit by about $100.  I don't think there's much hope for me now.  =(

Don't say that! Unless it is time for your renewal and reporting your income, there is no way for them to know that you are $100 over. They just go by what you told them last time you reported it and you only have to update your income when it is time for renewal. Of course, you would lose your follow-up care after that date. How far away is your date for renewal?

Is there anyway to forgo the extra $100 in income? It would be worth it for the MaineCare. I had to refuse all raises because it put me over the limit. There was no way I could chance being without it. I will be glad to have regular health insurance again as soon as I accept a full time call to a new church.

This is why we need universal healthcare. Healthcare for all should be a right and not a privilege just for those who can afford it! Do not be discouraged and give up. You can also talk to Lynn and they may be able to schedule you earlier because of this. Doesn't hurt to ask.

My update is due by August 31st.  My husband actually tried to get them to "take back" the raise because we would lose mainecare.  Where my husband works.....if you don't have any other insurance you have to take the insurance they offer and it is going to cost us $600 per month (mainecare only costs us $48 per month).   I hope we don't end up losing our house. I am going to give it everything I've got to try and keep mainecare (as it has been a blessing to me and my family).    My 4 year old daughter has a lot of health issues that would have bankrupted us.  I'm just hoping that next year if the income guidelines go up we will qualify again.  As for my surgery......depending on the date they give me with Dr. Huang.....I may have Dr. Clough do it instead.  Lynn says he's quick to get into, but I would have to have an open surgery.  I've been going through this process since last September and all I want is my chance for this tool to help me live a healthier life.  Thank you for your replies.....it's sooo nice to have people who understand what I'm going through.
