I had my surgery on Monday and came home Wednesday afternoon.  I am feeling better than I expected but I am kind of tired. It still doesn't seem real that I have had my RNY and am on the "other side". Did any of you gain weight while you were in the hospital?  I was shocked to see I had gained 16 pounds from Monday morning to Wednesday night!!!    I have lost 11 pounds already but WOW what a shock to step on those scales! The hardest part so far has been getting my medications down.  My potassium level was really low in the hospital so I have to take a suppliment for 7 days and it tastes AWFUL!!! I am sure you will see me on here a lot more now that I am home for a few weeks.

Welcome hom and to the loser's bench!!!!!!!  Glad to hear you are doing well!!!!!!  I think we ALL gained weight while in the hospital...it's usually due to all the IV hydration. As you've seen, it generally comes back off pretty quick once you are home!  Keep us posted on your progress!  Remember to keep sipping and walking!  Enjoy this wonderful weather!!!!!!!!!  happy 4th of July!  Ruth

Welcome, Kelly!!  I am so glad that everything went well!  I hear that weight gain is common, but I didn't gain anything.  I was a lucky one I guess?

I gained 6 # and like you saiod what a shocker!! It came off fairly quickly but I am a slow loser anyway. Yeah, the after meds, we had to give ourselves shots ftwice a day for 7 days, and I am still on previcid and Actigall...only meds tho, then all the supplements. It is tough cause you really don't feel like anything beyond the liquids for a few days, so don't worry. sip, sip, sip all the time, and fit whatever else you can. Congratulations and welcome to the Loser's Bench!!! hugs and honks, kate

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Lovenox are the shots our doc had us do for 7 days after surgery to prevent blood clots..Twice a day!  They really aren't that bad.  They sound worse than they are!  Better to be safe than sorry though!!!!!!
