Hi!  Haven't been here in ages.  Had RNY March 03 by Dr. Aslam in Augusta, who no longer practices WLS.  Having new issues, and Dr. Cobean's office in Portland, won't take patients of other surgeons, apparently.  So, looking for good surgeon in southern Maine.  Anyone know of doc's who will accept us?

Well, there are a bunch of us here that use Dr. Loggins in Lewiston.  Not sure if that is considered Southern Maine, but is between Portland and Augusta.  I am not sure if he is accepting patients that have already had the surgery, I cannot imagine a MD that wouldn't, you need to follow up with someone right?

I wonder why doc's won't accept other doc's patients?!?!  That just seems odd to me!  I, like Jill, have Dr Loggins and I'm not sure if he accepts other doc's patients either.  Sorry!  Guess I'm not a big help here!  Ruth

Dr Cobean probably can't handle any more patients.  He has such a long wait as it is to get in to see him. Either that or he is tired of fixing Dr A's mistakes. I am so glad I was denied in 2002, I was planning on having surgery with Dr A.

Sorry to hear of your trouble finding a new DR. Sometimes you need to keep after them and let them know you can not find anyone and you really need a Dr. I had a similar proplem years ago with a dentist who did a really bad job on me I refused to go back but was in terrrible pain called around to other places and all said they would not take me because it was the work of the other dentist but finally my dad talked one into taking me it was not easy and took a lot of begging . So don't give up keep calling tell who ever you want how much you need them have your PCP get involved...... Hope this helps ..... Good luck... I have Dr. Wolff who is from Dr. Cobean's office..... dr. loggins is wonderful. i bet he'd take you. his number is 795-5710. he's right at the hospital and easy to find. he also has support groups that are great. although i'm yet to get to a post op meeting. you'll love his staff too.
