I have been referred to Dr Loggins and got the call today to set up my first consult. I was at work so I will call her back in the am to set it up. I went to that health seminar this weekend at Bridgton Hospital and spoke to the Dr Loggins office manager. She said they were booking into August but if I did not get a phone call in next couple days to call her. I am so glad I did not wait until my physical in July to get the referral. I know I need the physical anyway but at least the wheels will be in motion. My pcp was not totally convinced. She felt if I just "got healthy and exercised" I would be all set and that 40.6 BMI was borderline?  Hello if it were that easy I would not be going to these drastic measures. She did say that several years ago that she was totally against bariatric surgery but it has gotten much better and she feels for the right candidate it is great. I have also discovered that although I am not diabetic I do have some of the signs of prediabetes. We'll see what Dr Loggins thinks now.

Congrats on taking that first step!  Borderline BMI with some co-morbidities will probably qualify you.  Don't let your doctor worry you....I think alot of them still remember the "old days" of gastric bypass surgery.  My doc thought I could lose on my own too....I think they all HOPE that!  Let's see them in our shoes and see what they think then (my PCP is awesome..but she's skinny as a rail and every time we talked about losing weight, I just don't think she understood how hard it was..........she's sure liking my results now though!!!)   Good luck and PLEASE keep us posted!    If you are interested...the pre-surgical support group is Tuesday evening 7-8pm.  Maybe see you there!!!!!!!!   Ruth

Congrats on starting your journey. You will be in good hands with Dr Loggins. It is not easy either way losing with the surgery or without. The tool does help if you work it. If you  have any questions at all feel free to ask away one of us should be able to help you find the answer.
