xpost......antibiotics...UPDATED!!!

I was started on azithromycin by my PCP yesterday due to pneumonia (I'm 7 1/2 weeks out from lap RNY).  I took the first dose about 5pm last night.  I woke up at about 3-4 am with pain in my abdomen, just below my left ribcage.  I thought it was gas, so I've been moving around, trying to get this to pass....but it won't.  I'll be calling my doc as soon as the office opens in about an hour...but, any ideas what I can do to help this out in the mean time?  (I've taken my prevacid which Dr L has us on for the first 6 months.) This pain is actually worse than just post-op!  I'm scared!  Any ideas?    Thanks for your help! Ruth I would call the ER and ask for someone covering for Dr L tell them your situation.  Please Please update us soon. Honking for you.

I just read up on the side effects of that antibiotic and it abdominal pain is common with that antibiotic as is the runs. Hope your feeling better soon but please call Dr.

So after a totally frustrating day of waiting for doctor's offices to call back, I finally have an update!  My PCP said I needed to stay on the antibiotics and told me to call Dr L's office and see what they said. So, Mike, the PA called me back and said they could call in a script for Carafate to help with my stomach.  I'm supposed to let them know if it doesn't help in 1-2 days and we'll go from there.  He agreed that I should finish the antibiotics.  So, I am way far behind on my protein and fluids cuz I am pretty much in pain still and I just called the pharmacy and they still don't have the script, so, it could be a while before I feel like putting anything in my pouchy! (I've had some Unjury Chix soup protein, a SF popsicle and some water so far today.....and the popsicle didn't sit right!)  I hate being sick!!!!!!!!!!!   UUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH  

Once your meds kick in you should start to feel better. Try to keep up the fluids the rest will come as you start to get better. Rest Rest Rest  today is a good day for doing nothing........... Take care of yourself {{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} Linda

yes, as LInda said, REst, REst, REst.... I'm so sorry you don' t feel well, and having to deal with frustrating calls and then running into town for new meds, that is all you need right now, I hate going into town, especially if i'm not feeling well. you will get better, you have the whole weekend, sit down and take a break, can your DH pick up the meds so you don't have to go out into the rain??  be good, hurry back I miss you... I've been off and on here all day...posting replies and stuff!  I'm pretty much bored and want to eat something but don't dare until I get the script!  Oh well!  Hopefully the med will help, if the pharmacy EVER gets the dang script!!!!!!!!!
