my fill, how was yours Jill & LInda?
HI Terry, sorry I just got back from Boston, so I'll try to make this short and sweet. With the band we need to go in for Saline fills, each band holds different amounts. It sometimes, takes 3 to 5 fills to reach your sweet spot (which means, you have restriction and eat smaller amounts like RNY) FOr me, since wls, I have been hungry and having a hard time sticking to 600 or less calories, I've been up to 800-1000 cal. which, was not in my best interest, that is why my weight loss has been slower. but with the band, the average weight loss is one lb. a week, and i've lost 6 in 6 weeks. so that is why he says i'm on track. OF course if I had been more compliant, i would have done better. but i'm stubborn and like doing things my way where I can still enjoy life. I do have my frustrations, especially when I see how great everyone is doing, but I just need to kick myself, cause it is only my fault. I FEEL great, have lots of energy, but, could do much better with compliance. I had a fill on Tues, and yes, I am getting full faster, but I feel i'm still eating more then I should. I am probably eating 1 cup and 1/2 of food, ideally 1/2 cup would be great. I will get there, just need to be more patient, I will be working out more, (I need to) and will get another fill in 4 weeks, see how that works out. DId I explain that right? ask away, If I missed anything. off to get a quick walk in and get some garden work done, since i havn't done anything in 2 days. Cheryl
My fill yesterday went well also. Dr. L is impressed with my weight loss. He then talked to me about how hungry I feel, and said that he could do a fill because I am feeling hungry and have been struggling to keep to 600-700 calories a day. With the band they look for an average weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs a week. I guess my average since surgery has been a little over 3 lbs a week. He filled the band with 1 cc/ml of saline and said that my band can hold up to 7 cc. The most they can put in at one time is 1 cc. I was nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect, but it was fine. I started regular food this am, and am doing ok with that. They counted my appointment yesterday as my 2 month appt so I will have to go for blood work this week. I do not have to go back again until October, unless I feel I need a fill. I can have a fill every 4 to 6 weeks until the "sweet spot" is found.
I am glad for you Cheryl that your appt was postive, I know that you have been frustrated lately. Hopefully the pounds will start melting away!!

He said that was the furthest from the truth. He will continue doing the band as long as it is around and being done. SO I guess it was just a rumor. Hmmmm!!! No kidding, great way to sneaky slam someone. What i said was that Loggins stated "that within 5 years the sleeve will be relpacing the band." That is true, and if you choose to look into the research studies then you could see that the promising results of the sleeve. Remember that the comfort thoughts that you think the band is "reverseable" it isn't. In reality unless you have issues, like infections, erosions, port issues, or other body rejections with it or are a self-pay are the only ways that band is going to come out. Glad to see you only like the RNY and bandsters.... happy time in the Maine forum it isn't worth it for others that are looking into options. Jeesh imagine if we all drove only two models of vehicles.
Kat, I"m sorry if you feel that was a "Sneaky Slam"... we here on the Maine board have only been "Ultra supportive" of each other and their decision. I was only defending my choice, because, It felt like you have been the "Sneaky Slammer" every time you have come on here, you have slammed the RNY and Band. I dont' think you said one possitve or supportive thing. If you don't think we here on the Maine board are supportive, I"m sorry. WE WELCOME ALL surgeries, we are interested in learning more, but certainly not open to slamming our choice, decisions and new lifestyles. If you choose to leave the "Happy TIme" on the Maine forum, cause you think we are are not open to new wls, I truely believe you are mistaken. Best of LUck with all you future plans. Cheryl
