Hi all, just wanted to know if you know if there is a significant difference between soy protein powder and whey?  I'd like to buy some at GNC to add to my meals because I fear I'm not getting enough and I just can't seem to get more than one protein shake in a day.  I tried paging my nut. but she never got back to me.   I think I'd have a little more stamina with a little more protein, also I've read that having more protein helps avoid losing muscle mass instead of fat.  If any of you have any suggestions at to which is better for me let me know. thanks

I dont 'know if this has any thing to do with the difference, but I bought some new candles yesterday and they were SOy, I asked the difference and she said, they are smoother and burn more evenly with less soot.  I wonder if soy is smoother??? good luck, I have avoided any protein powders since my liquid stage, I take my protein in real food...

Good morning ~ I was told that whey protein is best but I believe that is during the first 8 weeks because once on regular food that should be where you get the majority of your protein.  I'm sorry I didn't check to see how far out you are before I hit the reply.  I rely on the Whey Protein Shots on a recommendation from both my surgeon and nut because I do a lot of physical work with my horse and they don't want my body consuming my muscle rather than the fat it should be taking.  I'm "underweight" according to the surgeon and my PCP so I need to be careful.  How much are you taking for B12?  I know that when I was dragging I added another B12 and it helped tremendously.

I'm not really sure if our bodies absorb them differently or not but I know alot of people can't tolerate the whey protein because of lactose intolerance.  Our nut told us to use either ( If lactose intolerant use Soy, whey protein isolate or spirulina)  She said the highest quality proteins included: whey protein isolate, ion exchange whey protein, whey hydrolysate, and whey peptides. Our "bible" also says that we should have AT LEAST 10g of protein for every 100 calories in a protein drink. Early out, I used the protein bullets alot (42g of protein in 3 ounces with 176 calories...I mixed them with ice and water to make about 6-8 ounces which went down alot better!)  I've read about the protein and muscle mass too....Good luck!

I have been using the Whey Protein power as I can tolerate the taste more, I mix it with non-fat milk and one scoop of that stuff and the milk is like 30 grams of protein in 8-10 ounces of milk, I normally put some ice in it and sip it for about minutes.  She told me because of the physical nature of my work I should try to drink at least two of these a day.   I was lucky to get back to work on Wednesday without any restrictions, felt great no problems even when lifting heavy so I am a happy camper.  Hope everyone has a good weekend, well what is left of it anyway.....Larry
