Two weeks has passed since my surgery, I am doing very well and down 24 pounds since the morning of my surgery, but I have alot to lose, no hunger to date either.  I am really hoping I can go back to work on Wednesday, but since I am a lobster fisherman and I have to lift quite heavy I am not sure what the verdict will be, I have been able to lift my 20 pound son without restrictions since I was released from the hospital so that has been good. Any answers to the following questions greatly appreciated: Was is the average time people normally get back to work with the Lap RNY and what if any restrictions were placed on you? Should I go to Stage 3 on my foods, this liquid stuff for the last four weeks hasn't been that great.  However I have not been hungry and have been eating to live instead of my normal "Live to Eat" philosophy. Hopefully will meet some of you soon at one of the Support Group Meetings.  Take care and keep smiling.....Larry

I  went back to work soon  but i did not lift at work.  I could not lift anything over 20 pounds for   six weeks. they will advace your  diet  when  you go back to doctor and   nutritionist.    It is  hard to stay to there schedule but it is to give your pouch time to heal so you dont get sick.   Throwing up is not fun  as i am sure you  might know.  I have only done  that  twice and i would rather not do it again. But  who knows what dr haung will say.   HOpe you had a great weekend. Welcome to our group.

All programs/docs are different....mine let us have purees at 2 weeks out.....yours will probably be different.  I stayed out for 6 weeks (I had to be able to lift patients to get back to work)  I go back to work tomorrow!   My doc would have let me go back at 4 weeks, if I felt ready, but having all the time off has really been nice!  Don't rush your body too much!  You are still healing!  Good luck!  Ruth

Larry, I had a Lap Band, and work at home with no lifting, but my DH and I got a bad cold last week and I spent the night coughing last night, Aweful dry cough and My tummy is killing me today.  You really need to talk to your dr.  as for the stages of eating.  our dr.s are all different.  good luck, and hope your boss knows your on the line with heavy work.  keep in touch, let us know how it goes.  oh, and greeeaaat Job on the weight loss already. Do you have someone to help you out ? If you are the one that has to do the lifting I would say your Dr. will say NO WAY. If you have someone that helps you and can do the heavy work its possible you could go back.I know what hard work that is but also know timing is everything in that line of work. My uncle is a lobster fisherman as well out of Sprucehead. Good Luck and do get your surgeons opinion .

Thanks everyone for the responses, greatly appreciated.  Seen Dr. Huang today for my two week checkup as well as the Nutritionist in Bangor.  24 pounds gone since 5/12/08.  I am able to go back to work without any restrictions at all, also my menu has expanded, hopefully my pouch will respond well to something other than liquids.  Back to work at 4:00 AM tommorow morning, I am pretty excited about that.  You all take care and keep smiling.  No internet access on the island where I fish on so I will check in when I am home on the weekends.....Larry
