Amberlee, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you wanting to know about it, I also went looking, it is very interesting, and if it was something that was more available and insurance paid for it, I would def. have looked into it.  It is still new, and Most insurances won't pay for it.  But, i'm sure they will soon.  check it out on the VSG forum...good luck, cheryl

The doc in Augusta does them, and that is the type that I'm going for... When I asked Doc Loggins about it he stated:  "the VSG will replace the lap band within 5 yrs." He will begin training on it in a year he thought.   I like the VSG board on here too, very supportive and welcoming.  I chose the VSG because of the simplicity of it, no forgein object, no needles (which I don't do well with) and no mal-absorbtion. Not to mention all my intestines stay routed the same way which concerned me. BUT TO each their own.    Blue Cross Blue Sheild will pay for it the code is 43843.... just have to work the system!

GO for it!! BEing an informed consumer is what we all have to be these days when it comes to our health. The VSG is very intriquing, I agree.! It is j a malabsorbtion wls, no restriction, I think. And people are successful with it, toop. What ever works for YOU Amberlee! kate

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

You know the Sleeve does seem like a good alternative although I am wondering it a person could easily eat through that surgery. If you go in knowing that you won't get sick by eating unhealthy foods will you still be able to avoid them. Malabsorbtion sp  is only an issue if you don't take your vitamins and is beneficial in ways as well. I am here to support whatever choice people make for themselves. I Love my RNY and wouldn't change a thing. I know I could eat around the sleeve myself it just wouldn't work for me. All  the more power to people who can make it work.
