Sleeve in Maine!

Insurance is going through a level 1 appeal (due to out of network asking), and have also told me that there is a sergeon here in Maine that does the sleeve, and to go there.... well I said what the heck and went on Thurs night to the orientation......     There I sat all through the only two proceedures, and then a person from the Lap Band side, that has done a great job of loosing the weight,  spoke, and she herself said that it is constant fills, unfills, and continual upkeep....(Why I don't want it)     Then the RNY gentleman got up and spoke, showing his old pair of pants, and that he had lost an amazing amount of 128lbs since Halloween....WOW! But again he stated that there are things he can't eat, and that dumping was awful... (what I don't want.)     So after patiently waiting I raised my hand and blatently asked " do you do the sleeve?" the surgeons reply was...."oh, you are going to open a can of worms with this one!:), but yes I do."   He then went on to explain because people wanted to know what it was! He does do them, and so I am having all info transfered to his office this morning!  Keep all fingers and toes crossed people! This way insurance might be a little more go for it, since this one is in state rather than 10 states away!  ******I also had to laugh because this surgeon stated that all Lap Band canadates are asked to loose 10%of thier weight before surgery, which he stated was usually not a reliable way of infering success.... "If you could loose that 10% then you wouldn't be here>" was his response!

Good for you sticking to your guns and going after the surgery you feel is right for you. Honestly they are all about the same thing helping people to be healthier. You will have to post more often and give us all more information on the sleeve myself I am not that familiar with it and I know others in the beginning process would be happy to have another option out there for them to research.

It was so neat or rather amazing to see the people that had already had the surgery! They did wonderful with their tools, kudos to them.      Is the one in Bangor only on a BMI of over 60?
