Kaileigh, you know it is funny how no matter how similar we all are, and how mu*****ommon we have, every case is different. and sometimes even one thing we said, that the Dr. picked up on might be cause to have further testing or waiting.  Dr. Loggins is VERY thourough.  you know he really impressed me this week, just to prove that he does care and does listen.  Give him a chance.  your time will come and you will move on soon.  last TUes. while I was still in hosp. he came in for final release and gave me FOllow up appt and direcitions blah blah, I told him I coudnt make the appt. on the 2nd (fri) and he said why, what time you leaveing? and he was like, you'll be fine, got pleanty of time.  (Iwas leaving for Boston yesterday) well, he called on Wed. with a cancellation on Thursday and asked if I wanted the appt.  I was like sure.  well, when I went in to have my staples removed, he told me he remembered and I was first to fill in if there was a cancellation.  this told me he remembered what I had said, and made an efford to slip me in.  I was very impressed.  he made me feel special.  so good luck... cheryl

Hello and thank you so much. It looks like you are doing very well and that is encouraging. I am really curious as to how much rapid weight loss you have for the first 2 months post op - I know it slows down, but I hope to get a self-esteem building boost from the first 8 weeks - how did yours go? It is great to get support from others who have been there. Or who are there- ha Good luck on your journey

Hi Kaleigh and welcome to the Maine board!!

It is kind of hard to answer questions about weight loss because we are all so different. I have always been a slow loser and I don't think WLS is going to change that particularly, but what it will d is keep it off, which is soooooooo new!! I am really happy with an average of 1-2# aweek. Dr. Loggins was my surgeon and I think he and his staff are wonderful, professional, tough when they need to be because this is MAJOR surgery and elective, so they want us to cross all the t's and dot all the i's. I for one appreciated that. i researched WLS for 5 years before I had it done, talk to hundreds of people and went to 3 info meetings with dif programs- 1Lap band, and 2 RNY. I picked CMBS because I really felt them-the team approch, the professionalism, the caring and you've gotta love a surgeon that turns his house into a Christmas light fest every year!! Anyway, this journey like all others is done one step at a time. The difference is you will have this amazing bunch of ladies-Mainers-to help and honk you along the way. NO MATTER WHAT! hugs, kate

Thank you so much. I understand what you are saying about Dr. L's staff. They are excellent right down to Kim who answers the phone and always seems happy to hear from me. I have just a couple of run ins with Dr. Loggins. He is a good doc, I do not dispute that and his intentions are good, but he is former military and is definitly not used to a powerful woman going at warp speed getting all his requirements done in six weeks, and for spite, I really believe he has made me wait this long just to prove he is in charge. I just want to get through the surgery, and move on. That will be the beginning of a whole new life. How long ago did you have your surgery and is it true that in 6 weeks you can go back to your regular life, or does it take longer than that?

Hi, I had surgery 3.31 so i am 5 weeks out and going back to work tomorrow. I am a therapist so sit mostly so it will be ok, I think. I would not say I am getting my life back yet...food is a daily trial and error, I imagine it will get easier 3,6, 9 months out when I settle in on what I can and cannot tolerate. For now, I am content with the small portions of some familar foods and supplementing with protein shakes. k

Hello K, Glad to hear about how you are doing, I want to hear the real story from people. I thought that during the first month, one would lose at least 20 pounds, am I way off> and I was told by one person that she had no pain whatsoever, what has been your experience? Are you satisfied with your weight loss? Have you had much pain.?

Kaileigh it's better to think of percentage lost instead of pounds lost.  Usually (but not always) the more you have to loose the more pounds you loose early on. AND we all loose at different rates anyway.  Even if you and I have surgery at the same time and weigh the same and are the same height we're going to loose differently.   The reason I think of percentage lost instead of pounds is a lot of people on here are thrilled once they have lost 100 pounds.  It's a admirable feat for sure however if I lost 100 pounds it would be too much.  So am I a failure if I don't loose 100 pounds?  Certainly not.  Loosing 100 pounds would put me under my goal weight.  If you are really concerned about how many pounds you "should" loose each month use this weight loss estimator.  I've heard many people say it's very accurate.  My nutritionist gave me a similar chart. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op +planner.php

Hi again, Yes i had pain...took meds for about a week, mostly at bed time.  I am 56 yrs old, might have something to do with having more pain than some, but I think I did great...Getting up out of bed was the hardest thing. Honestly, you have 6 holes in you, all with staples, they tug andpull a bit, they sting sometimes, but pain was very manageable. I have no pain now, had the infamous left side pain weeks 4 and 5 but that is gone now, again, Tylenol took care of that. It is surgery, you are cut, you have general anesthesia so you have to get rid of that which can make you achey and forgetful, and have trouble with concentration. But that passes. I have lost 25# since surgery which inludes the 6 # I gained during and after surgery. My net loss is 42 lbs since Dec.  I am thrilled!!!
