Thank you so much! I have been "struggling" with food since I was a teenager. And at some periods of time I was at an average weight - never where I was supposed to be, but the struggle never left me. I have been though a very difficult 4 years, the more fat I got, the more depressed I got, so i ate more because I was depressed and well the cycle just went on. I started this process a year ago, still frustrated about how long it took the doctor's office to decide to apply for pre-approval, but after much angst, a long month waiting for an appeal process that I had to "defend" myself- I was so scared- it felt like life or death for me. On Friday at exactly 8 AM the MaineCare person called to tell me they were waiting for just one doctor to submit information. I had fought for that information, from that doctor all week. The nurse in that office (that does nothing to do with gastric bypass) yelled at me - yelled at me that my defective bladder had nothing to do with GBPS! Yet the doctor told me that my bladder pacemaker was not working right because I was so obese.  Maine care just needed to hear that and reversed their denial.  I had found someone at the state office to get my answer on Friday, but get this: the MaineCare person called me at 8:30 friday night to let me know. She wanted me to know so i could celebrate this weekend That was really, really nice of her. the next step is to get a date, I hope the Doctor can fit me in soon. thanks for your support!

thanks Ruth It has been a long year waiting through this process, still not able to lose significant amounts of weight - and in the last month fighting the state for approval. I felt like it was a life or death struggle. But I won! And I can not wait until I get the date that starts the beginning of a new life, a challenge and hard work, but a new life nonetheless. to all of us, who, whereever we are in this process,, have our heart and soul in it...Success to all!

Hi Ruth,
I think I got confused on my responses to the responses I got, I am new to this, but I think I just [posted to someone named Ruth.
any  how I saw you have Dr. Loggins. What was your experience there? have you had surgery yet?
he did call me this week in support of my appeal. but refused to come, though I thought it would be most powerful if he was there to defend his application and why.
I love everyone I have worked with in the office, but my complaint is that he intentionally has made me wait a year, alot of it time wasted. when I first began this process last june-end ==and had all tests completed by August 1- he said it was the fastest any patient had, corinne said I was doing great with logging food intake etc.. and I just hung in limb - I am still a little resentful - I started to think he really did not like me nor want to do this surgery on me.
What was your experience?
Kaileigh (sounds like Riley)

Thank you so much! It has been a rough month waiting for this appeal, feeling as if I was fighting for my life - which in essence is true. I feel so isolated and alone alot - I hide out in my room - watch alot of movies - I do substitute teaching, and am looking for a real job, but I knew I had to have this first, so that i could go to work and not have to ask for time off right at the beginning. So i have a plan to get out of this "place" we are at, poor, fat, not in our own home, no real job,and that plan began with gastricbypasssurgery. have you had surgery and did it take a year??? Kaileigh - and who is your doctor?
