protein in puree's question
The only thing I have added the non-flavored protein to is cream soups and recently when I eat ice cream I add it to a mixture of peanut butter & sf choc. sauce which gives a frosting texture ~ this is my night snack and it's so good. The ice cream peanut butter & protein equals 12g of protein. I didn't start worrying about calories until about 10 months out then only worried about them because I wasn't getting enough. I don't think any of you should worry about the "extra" calories at your stages unless you think you are getting way too many. 2 protein shakes a day along with your meals isn't too much. My favorite was the Advantage Supreme Strawberry which has 15g or protein and 160 calories. My second favorite is Slim-Fast Low Carb Diet which has 20g of protein and 180 calories. Both are excellant. I've added orange crystal light to the vanilla to make a cremesicle flavor. I still have them on hand for days that I ride as I can't stand the protein shots by themselves. I have used the shots to make jello, replacing part of the cold water and putting in 1/2 cup portions. Because it's jello it counts as liquid and has 19g of protein per 1/2 cup with less than 50 calories. Okay so that's my 2cents worth. I'm not really one to lecture about calories because at almost 13 months out I'm still eating less than 1200 a day. But, that's what fills me up and I'm stable at 123 pounds. If I were to eat a good breakfast I could easily make 1200 but eating before noon tends to make me sick to my stomach.
