ooops 14g of sugar

So I have been completely paranoid about dumping.  I have refused to put anything in my mouth with more than 5g of sugar.  So I picked up some fat free light yogurts the other day...apple turnover was new and I had to try. I eat the container and notice they had added vitamin D to it...bonus.  So I look to see how much of a daily % it is....that is when I see it.  14g of sugar!  I about died!  So here I was waiting like I could start feeling bad any second.  I couldn't believe I had just done that and not noticed. And here I sit...fine as can be.  I wonder if that means I don't have the dumping issue?

I don't dump on the sugar in dairy foods but the sugary dessert things I do. Maybe that's the same as you. For breakfast I sometimes make a double protein shake, it has 66 grams of protein but also 26 grams of sugar most of it from milk and it doesn't bother me at all.  Cheryl

I know 2 woman who had RNY, both have gainned all their weight/plus back, BUT... they are totally out of control, one of them drinks "Mudslides" one after another, ewwww, obviously with no problem and the other drinks coffee brandy and cream, again, one after the other.  I just want to shake them, especially when they say, the surgery didn't work for them. deh????

Tanya, I don't dump on sugar from diary products either. I eat light yogurt almost everyday and have no problems, but give me something else with over 10 grams over sugar and I dump. I think it's because most of the sugar in the yogurt is from the milk. I do fine with milk. Some people can't drink milk after surgery. I'm one of the lucky ones that can. I also consider it a blessing that sugar makes me dump, it's what keeps me away from it and why I chose this type of surgery. I need the restriction. ~dori~

Glad to know it might just be because of the dairy.  I like having the fear in me!  I don't want to dump or eat things I am not supposed too...and having that fear helps.

I think a lot of the sugar in yogurt is natural. If it had been a candy bar, then you would have been in trouble.
