HonK for me...I took a walk!

Hey dearies,

I bought a new pair of new Balance walking shoes yesterday and actually put them on, laced them up (no small task!) and walked down my driveway, past the mailbox to the next street and back. Only 10 minutes and not very fast but I did it! My right hip was killing me before I was halfway done and both ankles were hurting and I was breathing pretty heavily by the time I plopped my butt back in this chair, but I did it. I think I will try to do this walk for a few days until I am not huffing and puffing and hurting and then I will double it to 10 minutes each way instead of 5. It the getting away from this computer and out the door that is my challenge.

I know there has been some discussion here about tracking calories and exercise somewhere online, but I have forgotten where. Could you share your favorite places to do that?

Go****s gorgeous out, isn't it??? Have a great weekend everyone!

HONKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

I think the site you speak of is fitday.com.

That's awesome you got out and got your heart rate up. Just think, after surgery that walk will be so easy! Trust me. When I started I was huffing and puffing for a mile. Now I can do 2 miles in just over 30 minutes. You will be able to do that too. Just keep trying every day. Go twice a day if you can.

I'm very proud of you. Keep it up!

Thank you Lisa! I'm proud of me too, but it always feels better when it comes from someone else somehow...though I know it shouldn't!

terri, that is so great.  I also have very bad, hips, knees and ankles, but after talking to my pcp and ok'd it with Corinne, she said stop when it hurts, and do it 2 or 3 times a day.  whatever you can do is only a step up from what you've been doing.  park further at the store or Church, use stairs, (one or 2 flights) and count it as one session. you will soon be looking for a little challenge.  good job....I count my cal on Mycaloriecounter.com it is awesome.

Terri, Good for you!! Every journey begins with the first step and you have just taken it!! It is important to remember the tool isn't going to do it all for us, we have to want it badly enough to move out of our comfort zone and do it! It IS a beautiful day!!!

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Woo Hoo. You should feel so good about yourself taking that first step is a big one.It will help you so much moving now and not waiting til after surgery. Believe it or not I actually run up my driveway with the dog and don't even get winded anymore. No huffing and puffing or wheezing.. Still in awe at what this journey has done for me.  I am so happy for you Terri personal goals are awesome to have.

AWESOME!  I'm excited for you , you have begun  a huge part of your journey! exercise! and set goals! I might add, everything always hurts in the begining, but it will hurt much less in the end!           NEW sneaks and sunshine,  and NEW BALANCE couldnt be truier... for this journey, the secret is staying balanced with exercise  proper fluid and proteins , everytime we go out of balance on one part or another something else changes or stops etc...  OH reality.. its a something I"m learning to embrace.. accountability and reality..          Send in the Clowns.. hehee..               Have a beautiful day, week!  I LOve this weather!
