Issues with food
Okay so I was out to lunch the other day to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were at Texas Roadhouse and I decided I was going to have a roll. I hadn't been there since my surgery but I thought a roll would be okay, I've had bread before. Well I don't know what they put in their bread but I became violently ill. It started as a pain in my right side and then the pain moved to my pouch and it was just constant cramping and shooting pain. By the time I got home I was laying on the floor and trying to make myself sick to get out whatever was in my pouch that was making me so ill. I had little success with that and ended up laying in bed and finally sleeping for about an hour. When I woke up I felt okay but definitely not back to normal. I was afraid to eat anything for the rest of the day but when I did I didn't have any problems. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiences with food and if so what you figured out from it. I am certainly never going to eat any of their bread again but it's just so weird to me because I can eat other bread.
I get that pain you described when something is stuck. The 1st time I ate Lobster after I had surgery the same thing happened to me. I ended up in the ER because I couldn't stop dry heaving. Now that I'm 20 months post op this doesn't happen often anymore (knock on wood lol) thank goodness, but I do know what to stay away from. The bread may of been to dense for your little pouch. I'm glad you're feeling better. When I get something stuck I try and drink something warm as soon as I can and it helps, doesn't make all the pain go away but it helps get it unstuck.

HI, my nutritionist told me that I would have to stay away from untoasted bread for quite a while if not indefinately because when it mixes with the saliva and acids in your stomach (pouch) it tends to clump up and can get stuck. I haven't had surgery yet, but I will definately stay away from bread after the fact, because that does not sound like fun. Glad your feeling better.

Ther you are, I knew I read this sometime ago, but
Texas Roadhouse has sweet bread, made with honey, I think, so the dumping could have been about sugar...Sorry it took me so long to comment, but I have been thinking about you!!!
