question about cost of surgery....

Hi, everyone! I'm in the process of obtaining the Lap band and visit this site a couple times a week (yes, I'm a lurker!). My primary insurance (EBPA) approved the surgery, but my second (Mainecare) did not. I will be responsible for about 20% and wanted to get an idea of the total cost of the surgery.  I know I can call my insurance company, but they're closed right now, and am just trying to get an idea. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,      I know the RNY is about $30.000 give or take and I believe that the LapBand is about $10, 000 cheaper, so probably around $20,000.   It's a ballpark guess.  Maybe someone out there who has had the LapBand will have a more accurate total.  Good Luck! Blessings, Yvonne
