well I made it back home today.  I'm really sore so I'm not gonna stay on here long. But I wanted to Thank you all for your support and your cards, they were all wonderful.   I got home around lunch time so i decided to make a protein shake well lets just say that I learned a lesson  about no sugar added and sugar free. this is what I did. I tried a protein shake, vanilla flavored didn't taste to good so I tried adding a teaspoon of no sugar added jam to it black raspberry to give it some flavor, Wow about 10 minutes later I was running for the potty...DS   that was a lesson learned quick.     If you can have your surgery laproscopic I'd do it that way it would be worth the additional wait.  when they do open RNY they have to cut stomach muscles which slows the recovery time done. and from what I hear a whole lot more painful then the lap version.

Imglad you are home and doing ok. I bet you are sore, I am still sore from laproscopy,c an't imagine an open...Good for you. Now take it easy, water/Crystal light is easier on the new pouch, I found, second day I was home I tried the protein and now that is going down ok. Did they feel you much in the hospital? I go nothing in the hospital-at all-until Wednesdady(surgery was Monday) after i had xrays, they let me have 16 oz of water before I went home...So I was not ready for anything but sips of water . Anyway, glad you are home, recovery is on the way, one day at a time.!!

WElcome home Becky, is that why you had the open was because the wait was shorter?  how much time did you save?  WEll, take care of yourself,  take it slow, sip sip sip and remember those rules, they were made to follow... My biggest fear is not to try anything new, while out in public... I will try to always do it at home close by to a toilet.... enjoy your time home and relax... Chery  HONKSSS are with you.

Welcome home!! I couldn't do protein shakes for quite a while after surgery. I mostly put some unflavored in cream soups for the protein. Just take it slow, everything will fall into place in no time. Cheryl

Yep that was one of the reasons I had open was because of the time frame I would of been waiting until sometime this fall to have my surgery.  they say hindsight is 20/ 20.   Dr. Clough is a wonderful doctor and EMMc is a wonderful hospital. Oncec again thatnks for all of your support. I am down to 230 lbs as of today yahooooooooooooo. I have to make a new ticker I can't remember my pin number oh well....
