here is a little story:  4 years ago, I lost 60 lbs, and have managed to keep all but 20 lbs off, I quit my job 2 years ago, when we took in my little man.  I woke up in the morning, jumped into one of my cute jogging outfits, brought him to work, walked at the Mall, did errands and then home to do chores.  I was always comfy.  When I had lost my 60 lbs I brought all my larger clothes to Goodwill or gave them away.  so when I gainned the 20 back, I didn't know how bad it was till I tried on my jeans last weekend.   OUCH,  physically and mentally...  Stretch pants, no matter how cute, do hurt you, you don't know how fat your getting.  so today, because of our trips coming up, I needed some jeans (that fit) and ended up with a comfy size 18, I almost cried.  I was in a 14, 2 years ago.  so I hated buying some clothes now, but I didnt' want to go to Boston with a jogging outfit. That size 18 will soon be given away.  so that's my story.... I can't wait to see my friend tonight, I don't know if he is bald or grey or just the most wonderful guy he used to be.  I"m so excited.  Alot has changed, he lost a grandchild with SID's, has a grandchild with Autism, Put his wife and himself though school.  I'm so proud of him. I want to cry.  thanks for letting me share....

You're in an 18 and you haven't had surgery yet?  I'm so jealous. I weigh 225-ish and I wear a size 22 dress pant and a 24 jean. I wonder if I'll ever get down to an 18 again.

Yes you will !  I weighed in at 257 before I started this process and wore a size 24/26. I am now 7 months out, 109 pounds down and wearing a size 10 ! IF you believe it, you can achieve it! Anne

Thank you Anne.  I really need that pep talk. Tonight I'm watching RNY surgery here online from the link MoodyBlueEye's gave me.  This is the second time I'm watching it.   I've been wiping away a lot of tears tonight.  This surgery process has completly drained me.  For me this began in 2001 with Dr. Jimenez.   After going through everything I needed to I found out my employer excluded it.  Everytime my insurance company changed I checked again.  Unfortunately my employer always excluded it.  Now I have a different employer and different insurance.  After I built up 2 weeks of sick time I began the process once again...this time at EMMC.  When I went to orientation Dec 5, 2007 we were told this takes 4-6 months.  I asked is that still true?  Even though EMMC just recently lost one of their surgeons?  The answer was yes.  Well currently Dr. Toder booking her surgeries for September and Dr. Huang is booking July.  So for the people that went to orientation with me it's actually taking 8 to 10 months....and that's if everything goes smoothly.  For me it hasn't....thanks Dr. Fritzler. Having all of you here supporting me has been wonderful.  I'm so very lonely and just knowing all of you are out there helps me greatly.

HI!   An 18 is still "normal" sizes...look at Talbots...  For years 18 was a dream size, and now it is a memory, so all good things do come! For the girl in Caribou...are you set on RNY?  What about getting banded, and maybe do it at a different place the EMMC (not that they arent WONDERFUL, they saved my dad last year, but!)  you might be able to get it sooner...

Hey, Caribou, It does sound like a long time, but you have done so well hanging in there as long as you have already, waiting for insurance issues.  If you really want this, another 8 month will a piece of cake.  as the other poster said, have you considered going elsewhere? I know my dr. requires, you be 1 hr. away from hospital for a week after surgery.  so you would have to be away from home.  DOn't let it go, keep trying and i'm sure something will come up, and if not, you'll be done before next summer.  Thinks might look bad right now, but do you know this for sure??   have a good weekend and we are here honking for you....  Cheryl
