Ok I did the bike for 3 days and got sooooooooo sore that I could hardly walk. I hurt all over. I have firbromyalgia, both knees replaced a hip that is starting to hurt, what exercise at 61 I can do. yes the water nes were good, but the nearest pool is 35 minutes a way 1 way so that does not fit in much. Ohhhhhhhh I am so discouraged and I have stayed between 298 and 303 lbs for  6-8 months ok what now??????

oh, pam honey, I so know how you feel, I also have arthritis and do hurt but I also hurt when I don't exercise, I think maybe you need to not give up, but take it slower, and build your way up... even if its 5 mins. and if your sore, skip a day.  any movement is good.  how about dancing 1 whole song.  alternate, the bike one day, dancing the next.  Don't hurt,  my Nutrisionist told me to exercise, but not to the point of pain, so splitting it up and alternating is good.  Walk around the house, OUtside, a few times, in am and again in pm...switch it around, our bones can't handle repetition.  I know!!!  My Dr. once told me... I am the only one who knows the pain i'm in, dont' try to do what everyone else does.  but then again be honest and do what you can.  I sometimes am too quick to use my disablity as an excuse, but I notice more pain when I sit all day.  Don't give up girl,  I"m here for you girl... honks are all around you ..... take care and keep it up.... being sore is a good thing. it means you are stimulating muscles you haven't used in a long time. keep on biking. just cut back. start off slow and build up. maybe mix it up with water sports. it's worth the 35 minute drive. just go twice a week and the other times do the bike. i drive 45 minutes to work each day so 35 minutes is totally do-able if you really want to get to your goal. oh hell 61 is a spring chicken. you can do it but you need to pace yourself.

Pam  you have done wonderful   but  remember this is still a calorie game.  No matter what  it is still a calorie game so if your calories are up and your exercise is down then you will not lose weight. Go back to your third book you received from the nutritionist when you couldnt have more than a cup of food at a time and  start measuring  everything you  eat again.  Call your  nutritionist and ask for help and go to support groups.  Yes we are  35 minutes  away   It is  30 minutes away for me. I have been  to group for almost a year now and you would be surprised of all the people that go once and never do it again.  come join us and maybe you will get some answers. But you still have done  wonderful!!!!

You have done an amazing job. It will cause you to be sore to begin with but the best thing is to keep it up. try just starting with 5 minutes and just keep adding a little time.  Build your endurance slowly it will happen over time if you really want to continue. I am thinking you can do it. I will be honking for you.

Good job, pam, keep up the great work... I def agree that if swimming is the non weight bearing exercise that is available for you, go out of your way to do it, you are worth it, aren't you. An unused joint is a sore joint for arthritis but fibromyalgia is just sore muscles, joints, bones just sore eerything. on your bad days even worse...so do what you can...non weight bearing could be exercise while seated at a chair, real low weights- make an appot. with a personal trainer that specializes in pain management...they know what you need. it can be done, girl...you can do it!

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Pam, You definitely need to pace yourself!  Go back to scratch, start with a few minutes at a time and build up from there.  Water is great exercise but I totally understand about the time and gas it takes to get there.  Summer is coming soon, so maybe an outdoor pool might work? (It would be cooler, but would give you some of the benefits of limited weight bearing)  How about trying some isometrics? or maybe using some light ankle/wrist weights to just build a little strength.  If you've had your knees replaced, I know you know about leg exercises!  Just start slow, build up as you can.  Any activity is better than none!   Keep your spirits up!  You've done great so far!  Don't give up!  We're here for you!  honk!!  Ruth
