Any ideas welcome

As I posted before, I'm getting married this summer. It's just a casual wedding after all we've been together a little over 20 years. The problem I have is how can I have weddding cake with everyone but not eat it? Not eating it is no problem but the part where the bride and groom eat the cake together. It's only going to be family and a few friends and they all know I had the surgery so I don't have to worry about people getting confused about why I'm not eating the real cake.  I thought about having a special sugar free cupcake made up, but then what about the frosting? I was just hoping someone had any ideas. I may post this also on the main board because some one must have had the same problem. Thanks guys, Cheryl

Cheryl, I am also plnning a wedding for my dgt. and will be making her cake (never made one before) but, anyway, she don't need a sugar free one, but, for your issue, my DH and I got married on my inlaws anniversary and we had a small heard shaped cake made for them.  I think if you made a seperate one for you guys that would be fine, and instead of frosting, use sf whipped cream,  It is only a bite or two, just make sure you have someone take it out right before the cutting of the cake, cause if it is warm the whipped cream will soften up.  I think you can find sf frosting recipe too.  who is making your cake??  I'll send you a picture of the cake I'm making for my dgt. very simple

I don't dump, so I would have the bite of cake and would be fine. It is a special occasion after all. But if you are unsure if you dum*****t, may not want to chance it.

I was going to say the same thing.  If you don't have issues with dumping why not just have the bite of cake you feed each other.  Afterall, half might end up on your face and not in your mouth anyways.

I wouldn't think one little bite would hurt you at all but if you are worried make the cake all sugar free what they don't know wont hurt them lol.

i have heard for other post ops that they can have one bite or two but that's it. so go ahead and have that ceremonial bite. it will probably end up in your nose anyway. LOL

Thanks all,  I think I'm going with the "one bite" rule. I've eaten a bar with 8 grams and felt fine so one bite probably won't have more than that. Thanks for all the great advice, Cheryl
