Cruises questions

hey girls, i'm taking my son on a western carribean cruise next spring. i've never done a cruise before. we're going to cozumel, belize, honduras, bahamas and back to florida. any advice on land excursions? any advice about cruising? how can i save money? what to avoid? entertainment? i'm a cruise virgin so any advice would be helpful. i don't want to be taken advantage of.

too funny. save your money and come with us. i'm hoping for april 2009. i have a wonderful 15 year old son. he'll be 16 in june. i have a pic of him on my profile. he's my angel. i'm blessed with this one. he's a good kid and liked by a lot of people. hardly ever gives me trouble. we have a special bond as we share a birthday.

OMG, my DH and I went last march for our first cruise, royal C, souther nCarribean, Aruba, PRico, Carracco, St. Maarten, it was the best.  YOU will have a ball, there is so much entertainment on the boat, you son will never be bored.  As for money, I can't help you cause, we went with friends who brougth us with them as guest, we had to pay, but it was all through a company deal kind of thing.  YOu will receive a book and in the book it will tell you everything, helpful hints, on land excursions, look thru them and deside together.  scuba, parasaling, everything you can think of.  I personally want to do a zip line,  it will tell you all that.  and if it says to make reservations do it ahead of time if you can.  they book up very very fast.  we missed out on a few cause no one wanted to reserve it early... as I had told them tooo *(I wasn't Happy)....  Don't over pack, plenty of healthy food to choose from too. but then again, plenty of other crap too.  I gainned 8 lbs. and didn't even fit into 1/2 the close I brought with me.  look up the boat your will be on also on line and it will tell you everything you want to know. oh, and every evening when you go to bed, you will have a schedule of tomorrow's activities, everything from the weather to parties, drink specialty.  You will have a ball, my husband didn't want to go, but after 20 mins on the ship, (I"M NOT KIDDING) he turned to me and said "THis is not gonna be our last cruise"....

awesome. maybe i'll hit bookland and buy a book on cruising. i'm sure i can find some secrets that way. not sure about drinking on the boat as i haven't dared try that yet. i know kendall will want soda and that costs extra. no big deal though. can't be too bad and don't they give you a room key/credit card and you can charge it right to your room?

right now we're looking at a balcony room for about $719 each plus airfair. so i'm guessing around $3000 for both of us for 7 nights plus the land excursions and souvineers. i'm going to budget $4000 just in case something comes up. that's about what we spend in hawaii for 2 weeks. i can deal with that.

hehe, keep selling girl, do you make that much money doing that?  wow, I should get a second job too,  hey, as for soda, at the beginning of the trip they offer to sell you a large sippy mug, for like $10 and you can have free fill the whole trip, I thought that was bad until I found out the price of the sodas and I was sorry i didn't do it.  you just need to carry it with you to your meals and by the pool and stuff, I really MISSED my Pepsi, they only had coke, when we landed in boston that ws the first thing I did, was get me a pepsi. hehe  The balcony rooms are awesome, my dh and I actually sat outside naked... so private wehn your out to sea, obviously woulnd't have done that in port.  Also, wear sun screen on your lips, mine blew up so mad I couldn't talk for a whole day, it really was funny, remind me to show you my scrapbook this summer....

You gals are making me sick to want to go on a cruise!!!!! I've always wanted to go, but with 3 kids (and not wanting to leave them behind) we may have to stick to land vacations for a bit longer!  sigghhh   I'll be dreaming of cruising though!!!!      I hope you have a ton of fun out there seeing everything!!!!  Make sure you bring back tons of pix to show us!!!!!    My daughter is 14 (will be 15 in April)!  Pix of her on my profile too!   Your son is a cutie!

good advice cheryl. we'll do that with the big mug. i'll have a bag with me anyway with sunblock, book towel, etc.

i only have a couple years left to do big vacations with him. at 17 my tax return goes way down. so 2009 is cruise, 2010 hawaii and for graduation we'll go somewhere. i'm thinking london or somewhere in europe. i'm open for suggestions. he graduates in 2011 so will have to be something he wants to do. i'm up for anything. he's a blast to vacation with. i tood him to disney at 10 years old. omg that kid can have a good time. his favorite place was hooters!

oh, cheryl, business is very good. it's a whole other income. i usually do 2 parties a week and i'm booking may june right now. i'm usually booked 2 months in advance. i took february off for surgery and i'm right back into things.

wow, I think that is amazing. I always thought sellling things like that ie: toys, toys/? (hehe), tupperware, you know, was just enought to supply you with your needs, not really an income.  That is great.  my neice lives in Penn. and tried selling candles, and after 3 months was more in the hole.  she kept sending us relatives her brochures, like we had to buy candles, worth $5 for 30.  to pay her bills.  I think Not.?? sorry toots. hehe I didn't mind buying one, but gosh??  I think your party would be great for all of us, don't you think? how can we plan something?  I know it is quite a travel for you. HOw about on a Friday after work?  I will host it, and there are alot of girls in the Lewiston area???

i'd be happy to do a party for all of us girlies. a saturday would be better where i have to travel so far. i also work full time so keep friday night parties close to home and saturdays i'll travel up to 2 hours but would want 10 people for each hour i drive. i'm sure we could get that many.

the next date i have available is Saturday, May 31st then I'm into June. For June I'm NOT available 20th and 28th. other than that friday and saturday's are open.
