I know there are eight of us that are scheduled within the next month for WLS .  I have been drinking protein shakes and eating alot of custard and jello. ( I know I'm on the 2 week liquid fast) what has everyone else been eating? I see some of you have lost alot of weight pre-op which is wicked Kewl.

I'm still a coupla weeks away from surgery, so I'm still eating "normal" food.  I've been logging everything since January (bites, licks, tastes, everything). Even though Corinne, our Nut, has approved me, I don't want to gain at this point.   I'm staying away from all the high calorie sweet stuff, for the most part.  I'm reading labels (it takes me forever to get groceries!) and making sure I get my 60-80 grams of protein, 48-64oz of fluid, and keeping it all at about 1000 cals/day.  Good luck with the 2 weeks liquid phase!  At least you know what to expect after surgery.  I can't wait to find out!!!!!!!              Keep up your good work!  You are doing awesome!

I have also counted calories and proteins, in my case I've stayed between 1200 -1400 cal a day, 80 oz water and 60-80 proteins.  I journal everything.   I certainly can't say this without saying I havn't been always perfect, especially with the exercise.  Ruth is a true trail blaizer, she is Hot on the trail. Good luck with your liquid diet.  HONKKKKKK

I have been eating normal up till now.  I start liquids on Monday.  I count protein and liquid.  I was never told to count calories.  Starting Monday it will be protein drinks, jello, broth, popsicles, etc.  (all SF of course).

don't be surprised if you find something you love today you may hate it after surgery. don't stock up on things. get enough to get you by but don't horde. most people's taste buds change. i have noticed that they are changing back. i think it has to do with ketosis. i know for about a week after surgery i had an awful taste in my mouth. it's all from ketosis. ketosis is when your body is burning fat for energy.
