I have decided to try and get an approval from my insurance to have lap band surgery. I received my referral from my doctor and I have to go to the seminar for the Bariatric center here on April 10th. From there I am assuming it will be the same beginning process as my girlfriend (tiredofbeingfluffy here on youtube) has gone through with her gastric bypass as we are going to the same office. I'm hoping my process will be faster than my girlfriends. When she started there was only one nutritionalist, now there are 2 and I dont have to schedule my appointments around work like she did. I am eager for this not only to lose weight and be healthy and feel better, but because I am in serious need of a breast reduction and obviously want to lose the weight before I have the reduction. I'm a stay at home Mom and love to cook. I love watching movies with my girlfriend (tiredofbeingfluffy here on youtube) and play our Wii. I really just love spending all the time with her I can. Since I had my daughter I eat enough to probably feed about 4 people (maybe not 4 but I eat a LOT) and dont feel hungry until after I am done. Then at that point, I have so over stuffed myself I dont feel well. So, even though I dont eat much unhealthy stuff, I still cant lose the weight. When I try and control my portions I seriously almost feel like I'm starving. I grew up with one of those "dont waste anything on your plate" Mothers, that could be part of the cause. However, like I said, its been much worse since I had my daughter and even more so now that I'm so comfortable in my relationship. Before I had my daughter though, I never gained weight. I also battle depression and have severe panic attacks, along with other problems and since I got on disability I started eating when I was bored and for comfort. Food became my only friend at one point when I was with my ex. Its still my friend, just not my only friend anymore :o) I will never make my daughter eat more than she wants, but I also wont let her not eat anything like she tries to do sometimes.

Welcome, Chelle..your story is not all that unusual and you will find the more you read and share on the board the more you will feel comfortable with your decision, the neat thing about the maine board is we will love, and support you through the decision making, the testing, the approving and the surgery and beyond. You will never be alone with your fears or your questions. WE are all here for a reason, food became something more than a thing to do to stay alive, we all make meaning of food in different ways as well , so no worries.   WE are honkers...hmmm what is that you ask...see my blog on Lessons from Geese so you aren't startled by the honking that goes on on board!! LOL and welcome.

It was magic when she realized who she had become...
