how long?
Kate,
My surgery started at 7:30 (had to be there for 5:45am!) I don't remember anything until around 1:00 or 1:30pm that afternoon when I awoke fully in my room. When Dr. Loggins came to see me later he told me that the surgery can last 2- 2 1/2 hours. Mine, according to him , lasted less then that. Hope this helps.
I believe that the amount of time it takes really depends on what he finds when he gets in there. I think he does a small liver biopsy at the same time to see the fat content of the liver. That's one reason for the weight-loss before surgery........the less fat he has to "tunnel through" when he gets in there, the better it is for him AND us!

Hi I also was for 7:30 am got to hospital at 5
I remember them taking me in to the OR and i got on the table and that is the last i remember till they were wheeling me to my room at noon. Dr said i was in recover for a couple of hours so my surgery was a couple of hours.
Glad i am not the only one who does not remember the recovery room lol
Thanks everyone...I just wondered how much variation and why there might be....so I went to the experts!!
It was magic when she realized who she had become...
