Feeling like I failed before I even began

So, I started my 2 week liquid diet on the 10th.  Did ok for a few days, then BAM!  Got hit with cravings galore!!  I cheated on about 5 occassions week one and 2 or 3 week 2.  My energy levels have been so LOW.  I have only lost about 6 or 7 pounds.  I'm afraid I may have sabotaged myself.    I spoke to my counselor about this on Wed. and was completely honest about my eating habits and emotions.  She said that the worst case scenario is tha my surgery may be postponed, and she is right.  But, that is NOT at all what I want to have happen.  I know that I can't change these last two weeks. (Do wish I could though.) And I am not going to sit here and beat myself up over and over, I'm just extremely nervous about going to portland tomorrow and having them say "Sorry, you just didn't lose enough."  My stomach is in knots!  And to top it off, I got my little "Red friend" today.  I just wanna scream!!! Well, thanks for letting me vent. Hope You are all having a good Easter. ~Julie~

Julie honey, I so know how you feel.  It is really hard being on just liquids.  and even worse for 3 weeks, wow, that is really hard, I wouldn't be able to do it.  at least you are being honest, i am sure there are alot of people out there that have managed to sneak in a bite or two and didn't call their counselor.  Just hang in there for one more day, i'm sure it won't be easy today either, but if you want it tomorrow, hang in there.  keep yourself busy, go visit, go for a ride, get away from the food. Best of luck to you,  and congrats on your 7 lbs. that is great.  Happy Easter !!!!       Cheryl

yuck, huh? When it rains...we get our period...so glad I am over that phase of my life... Girl...YOU HAVE DONE GREAT!! 6 or 7 pounds??? yowser!!! The weakness can be about not enough protein and /or water, that is key, and key to the after, too.  I don't think they will turn you away. Our bodies do the cravivng thing as we are releasing caffeine, sugar, toxins that have built up. They want to see that you can lose and you have. Breathing in breathing out, you are on your way. No ohne said this was easy, tight?? WE are learning!!

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

You are gonna be just fine Julie. 2 weeks on liquids is not an easy thing to do Not so sure I would have been able to do it myself. I only had to for 2 days but had lost my 10% ahead of time. Just wanted to say Honk honk. Maybe call DR on call and ask them if you should do a bowel prep ??  I know cutting it close but it may keep you on schedule for your surgery?? Keep your chin up and try and move past the cravings.

Hang in there Julie. It's really not bad. I'm almost 5 weeks out and the liquid faze is very hard. I found myself "cheating" too. I wanted to chew sooooo bad I scrambled an egg. I ate about half of it. It tasted so good. I can't imagine the couple of slips you've done will sabotage your surgery date. I also can't imagine doing the liquid diet like you have done so successfully with a 7 pound loss. That is great and I'm sure they will acknowledge that too. Just hang in there for the rest of the day. Just remember on the other side it will be harder to "cheat". When you do you're apt to get sick. Don't beat yourself up over this. Also, on the other side it's a bit easier as you don't get hungry which makes our brains crazy.

Also, with Aunt Flo visiting I'm sure you're having cravings for those starchy things.

Happy Easter Julie!

Julie, Congrats on your surgery tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. Please let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it. I had Dr Cobean also and I lost 8 pounds on my 2 week pre op diet and Dr Cobean was very pleased. Don't feel bad about 7 pounds, feel happy about it. They don't want you to gain weight on the pre op diet, if you've lost weight, they will be happy. I also started my period the day before surgery. The nurses will take care of it for you, just let them know when you get there. ~dori~

Thanks everyone. This morning I was feeling pretty low.  I had set high expectations for myself going into all of this and to have strayed from those, it hit me pretty hard.  Especially reading and hearing about women who have lost 15-20 pounds on their 2 week diets.  I had thought for sure I would lose at least 10.  Ah well, can't be mad at losing 7 pounds in 2 weeks...I haven't lost 7 pounds at once at all in YEARS.  So, you're right when you say I should be happy with it.  Also, I feel much better knowing some of you have been in my shoes and you have succeeded not only in having your surgeries, but with losing weight afterwards as well.  Thanks so much for being here.  I appreciate all of your support, encouragement, and advice. I talked with Dr. Cobean tonight and told him about my "cheating".  He said we'll be going through with the surgery tomorrow.    Thank GOD!!  He wants me there at 8:30am and says I will be going home tomorrow.  So, that's a bit different.  Originally, I was schedualed for 1pm, then they said 10:30am.  Guess they want this done about as much as I do.  lol I will post as soon as I am able.  Heck, if I can't sit here and do it, I'm sure my son will be more than happy to do it for me.    He's a real sweetheart.   So, either way, you should hear something by tomorrow night. Thanks again for being here! Talk to you all soon. G'night. ~Julie~
