Sooooo...I had my Psych Eval and Sleep study on wed.  And well, Im not CRAZY but.....i had significant  elevations associated with anxiety and mild depression...so here is my question to all of you?  Did anyone else come out with a diagnosis?  I knew I was an anxious person and I have slight OCD traits....which is an anxiety disorder...but...I hope it will not affect my surgery...He put down on the paper he sent to surgeon that he suggests i stay in counseling and perhaps start an anti-anxiety/depression in one med...and continue with my counselor after surgery and definately when I plateau, pretty much because of my obsessive way of thinking he feels it will be hard for me to stick to the diet when i plateau. Do you guys think the surgeon will say no to me??  EEKKK...i'm nervous... Sleep study was AWEFUL!!!  I only slept for maybe 2.5 hours..I kept riping cords off every time i moved!! UGH!  I had a raging headache and could not get comfortable...I am a wicked mover before actually falling asleep so it was bad!  I am praying i won't have to have another one because of not enough time asleep! AHHH...anyways thanks for listening!  2 more Dietician appts left, damn Aetna insurance...ugh.

Hi  Jennifer I dont think the surgeon will say no as long as you do what was suggested by the  pshy evaluation. good luck with all that comes  from this. You will do fine!!!!

Hi Jennifer, I agree that the surgeon shouldn't say no as long as you will follow the recommendations.   May I also add that with OCD the stalls are VERY difficult.  I also have OCD.  I was also diagnosed with "situational sadness" which is situational depression ~ each depression episode I go through is directly related to something going on it's not there all the time.  I take a med for the SD and one for anxiety.  My surgeon was fine with it as long as I sought help when I needed it.   Have a great weekend!

Hi Jen, I think you will be fine, he said "continue with my counselor after surgery" which to me says he thinks you are ok to have surgery. Had he not, I think he would say, should have additional counselin"before considering" surgery and he did not say that...just to continue what you are already doing. My advice is that you do whatever they suggest with a great "whatever it takes" attitude. Do not be defensive and you will be fine. Also, you might do some research and have a list of actions you will take when you do plateau so they can see that you have thought about it and have a plan of action. I am sure folks on this list can help you with that.
