Hi Lisa, Mine does this too.  I take it as a sign of being full.  My nose will run a before my belly feels full and if I eat to many more bites after it starts then I am uncomfortable. While asking weird questions....How many of you craved chili after surgery??  I lived on for several months after surgery but now I make a pot thinking I want it and could careless about it.  I asked the NUT jokingly about it and she said it is a very common question she is asked, but has no answer for. Just one of those weird things I guess.
Hugs,
Ronda

funny you ask. i hate spicy foods. my bff rochelle will joke if it's spicier than ketchup i won't eat it. i was craving mexican after surgery. i ended up eating some sloppy joe with mexican cheese on it once i hit the soft food stage. it was awesome but that's as spicy as i go. i also craved pizza and toast.

i'll pay attention to the runny nose and full sensation. i have a tendancy to over eat or eat too fast and have dumped a couple of time because of it. this would be a great sign for me.

OMG Lisa me too,  I dont' think food should be painful... I make an awesome Salsa, that is so hot everyone eats it and gets a runny nose, haha, kinda funny.  But, my bff, a long time ago, used to eat hot peppers for lunch with bread and butter, and she got mad at me cause I wouldn't even try it and she shoved it in my mouth, it was so bad, my nose and lips burned for hours.  I don't know know how people do it.

i don't understand how people can eat such hot stuff. i saw a thing on tv once that said people who are sensative to spicy things have more than the average taste buds. so i must have a bunch of them.!

My answer is the same as Ronda's. If I eat one to many bites or if I eat to quickly my nose runs. When I was first post op I use to get the "foamies",  now I only get a runny nose. I can handle a runny nose any day over the foamies. I also get the hiccups if I over eat. ~dori~

Same here; runny nose just before my pouch says it's full.  If I eat more than 2 more bites I end up having to spit it out cause I can't even swallow it. Spicy foods>>>I hated them pre-op and now I like them.  I'm not into the painfully hot but a mild chili or salsa is really yummy.  I make an egg beater omlet with cheddar, salsa and sour cream ~ never would have touched that pre-op.  Then again I loved chocolate pre-op and now spit it out because it tastes yucky.
