Just wanted to get some opinions, again!  (Thanks for bearing with me!)   I am thinking that I should get some things in order before surgery and was just wondering if anyone else has done this.  Is it just nerves?  (I don't have a will or living will in place yet, but am working on it.)  What else should  I get in order, besides getting my house clean before I go in???  Thanks!

Geee Ruth I dont' know, make sure you got your house full of food, for you and family, my husband don't cook much so I will make sure he has alot of hot dogs and balogna.  he should be all set with that.  as for my little man he will be gone to respite for a week (got to plan transportation and paperwork, and meds for him)  we made out our wills before a trip we took a few years ago.  as for cleaning the house, scr#$%W that, take it as it is...  lots to think about tho, isnt' there?

Morning Ruth this is absolutely NOrmal,NERVES! to have all these real feelings, I actually   shopped for life insurance and had the rep. come only to be denied!  too overweight!  New YOrk Life, HA I really had to laugh.. I did make all my wishes known  and did a living will in the hospital, , Its very emotional but its  a surgery..  I really had a week where I thought I truly was not coming home, I had all these emotions rolling and was getting ready to dance in heaven.       WEIRD hormones emotions  and the HOLIDAYs I was  right before Christmas time.. so extra hormones going.. I think everyone has these feelings even if its only a moment, they just dont talk about it,    and  I sure have learned from experience, NOT talking about it didnt make it better it only made it worse..             IF your  surgeon can give you your prescripitons BEFORE surgery day  to get them filled instead of on the way home, I found that very helpful, then didnt have to worry about stopping anywhere etc.some pharmacies dont always carry liquid etc. if thats what you get and may take some time .  Long as you have some fluids ready..  Remember your tastes are going to change most everyones does, so dont worry about buying a ton of stuff for after as that you will do a lot of trial and error on and it only takes a few ounces of each new thing to know if its a keeper or not.     As on track and mobile as you have been !     You;ll be home walking  and be like Wow.. in no time.      time as you will see now starts really moving fast..  its the road to the surgery seems to drag, but once the date comes    it  goes at warp speed..  Scented Blessings.. Allicca weather is icy this morning here, careful out there everyone..

I did my Will and Living Will before I went in, I wanted to make sure my son was very well taken care of if anything happened to me........it was just a precaution on my part, but I am glad I had it done.  And yes it has a lot to do with the nerves!!  Best of luck to you!!

Hi there, Absolutely get your "house in order" including your will and living will or medical directive. I have done this, also writing letters to everyone without being too morbid...food in the house or cleaning, not really, my food in the house-shakes, powders that is in stock along with jello, sf, sfpudding, crystal light for post. What this does is takes the what ifs out of the nerves, you are ready for everything you can control, the rest is out of your hands anyway so don't need to worry about those things. Hope this helps... hugs and honks

It was magic when she realized who she had become...

Thanks to all of you!  I really appreciate your advice.      I already have a bunch of  protein in the house and need to get a little more variety of soups I suppose.  I'm working on the living will and trying to get something in writing about the kids (my hubby is step-dad to all 3 of mine) just to make sure they are taken care of by who I want them taken care of.  I think it will all work out in the end.  Just trying to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s.  Thanks!!!  Happy Thursday!!!!!!!!!
