Easter

so Easter is right around the corner.... where you going and what? if your cooking are you cooking? I am cooking and my dgt and her fiance and dgt are coming.  I have to hide eggs for the first time, I never did with my kids, Gramma always did it, so now I guess I'm kinda the gramma...  I am making Ham, mashed pot, boilled onions, corn, string beans, brocolli, carrots and a Key lime cake. 

Hubby is working so just me and the kids. Not going out of my way to make a huge meal they won't eat lol It will be a quiet day here.

hmmmm yeah,,,,,a protein shake with a side of... ah protein shake, anyone care to join in, I have ah  water or sf jello or ah...water...yummmy come to my house and I will fill your baskets with hmmmmm protein shakes Seriously, turkey it is, witl all the fixin's can't even have the high sodium ham in the house, at least if i pick it will be turkey, and so it goes, wednesday, march 19, 2008

OMG, i'm so sorry, talk about support, that was just awful of me.  I'm so sorry.... no ham for me either, but my husband absolutely requires it.  did you notice all the veggies, those will be mine.  HOw are you doing, it must be hell???  I so look up to you.  I am wondering if I can do it for 2 days.... Your unbelievable...keep up the great work, do you have to cook for DH. that will be the killer for me, I make him breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will just have him move out???

lol  honestly, this is not too hard...I have alwasy said it is easier to eat nothing that find the right things... You need to know my sense of humor better, I guess, You are supporting me!!!! I am doing great. I do cook for DH when it is my turn, just took a crabmeat dip out of the oven for him, smell is a little off to me, prob because I am swooning!!AGAIN-JOKING

kate...how are you doing on the liquids?  I know it's rough, but you can do it!  You are stronger than you know!  honking for you still!!!!!!!!!    

Cheryl....We're going to my mom and dad's for lunch with the whole gang (15 of us in all!!)  Mom loves cooking for crowds!  Not sure what we are having, but it's usually ham!  (Old French wives tale about getting "La Galle" if you don't eat ham at Easter!)  I'm not taking any chances and will have a few bites!  I'll be diggin the veggies mostly though!  

Hey Cheryl,  Yummy, that sounds sooooo good right about now lol!! And, since ya asked, may I vent a bit? LOL!! I've been visiting up here in Canada and my friend Sandy just moved into a place with less expensive rent two weeks ago. (Lucky me got to help her move lol!) The thing is, the place is nice and it IS cheaper (which is great because we've both had some financial issues) BUT--it has NO FRIDGE AND STOVE so we've had to go out to eat every day for lunch before she heads off to work and then we get a little frozen dinner for each of us for supper and I heat mine in the microwave which she DOES have thankfully!  I've always been fairly resourceful so I've been researching ways to help her out. I remembered the other day that a while back I'd heard about this website called www.modestneeds.org (in case anyone else is ever in need of help folks might want to write it down) and I had Sandy write to them. She posted an application entitled "Refrigerator and Stove" and how it works is, they request documentation (if it gets even that far--some requests are refused immediately if it doesn't fit their mission statement) and then the person submits the documents proving their situation, then it goes to prequalified status and is posted for donor review where both corporate sponsors and individuals who wish to help others can go and donate. Each request for help is assigned a point value and once enough donations are received to fulfill the request it is funded and a check is sent to the store. Fortunately, Sandy told them she's fine with reconditioned (used) appliances so that will hopefully help her situation. But anyway, I got off on a tangent lol!   The point I was trying to make is, your menu sounds wonderful! We aren't doing too much for Easter thus far. Sandy's kids offered to come visit (they are now 18, 20 and soon to be 23) but she's not in a position to entertain so we will most likely have a quiet day. Might go to a sunrise church service (despite the fact that I am SOOOOO NOT a morning person lol!!) and then an Easter breakfast but haven't firmed up anything yet. wow loris, sound like you are still having a busy/fun time up in Canada.  are you on vacation?  How long you plan on staying there.  Boy there is alot you can do in a microwave... check out recipes on line.  You probably could make yourself a good healthy meal.  I love doing things like that, I love the power being out and have to cook on the grill.  I guess you could say I'm creative.  well, enjoy your stay, and hope your friend wins the stove and fridge....

Hey Cheryl,  TY for the site--I will certainly check it out! I've been up here a while... I head for home April 5th---can't wait to be back in Maine!  Nope, Sandy won't "win" the stove and fridge...it's not a contest type of thing in the strictest sense of the word although I guess one could see it as such. It's basically a site set up to help those experiencing a hard time and needing a particular item or service. They are funded through corporations and individuals. But anyway, whatever happens happens and if I know Sandy as well as I think I do, she will get through it either way!!  Anyway, ty for the good wishes and I'll post again soon to say hello to everyone!
