goal question

I hear people all the time saying, my goal, the dr goal, I have a few lbs to goal.  my question is:  Is this just a mental thing, or do you have to reach a goal to get a passing grade or what.  and who's goal is a passing grade?  I think you get as low as you feel comfortable or you can reach and be healthy.  Sorry, just my opinion... we've spent our whole lives trying to be a certain number, now we are going to start a new life and along with all the other changes we have to make, that should be one of them.  but, who knows when I get down in weight, or hope to be down in weight , I might feel the same way.  I'm just trying to illiminate my demons.

I set my own goal and it isn't a test lol Just OH says my ultimate weight is 126 and I want an even # lol so I am shooting for 120. I would probably be happy at 130 too but am shooting for the 120..

The goal that I chose is my goal.  I haven't even discussed it yet with my doc.   According to Weight  Watchers and my height (5'6")  I should be between 145 and 165.    I just can't imagine being at 145, so 165 is my goal "for now"  We will see....

so to make it clearer for me... if you dont' make your goal, what happends?? are you going to feel like you failed? or will the dr. make you feel that way? as far as weigh****chers they don't care, as long as you come back and have to pay every week.

Well, I was just using WW as an example.  My doctor, curves they all have the same chart...  pretty much.  As long as my BMI is in the 20's I will be happy.

I totally agree. The dietition asked me what weight I wanted to be and then told me what I "should" weigh.   As I understand it the surgeon will ask the same. Personally my goal is to be healthier.  I want to get off some meds and I want to not be in pain all the time.  I want to be able to move around and not get exhausted so easily.  My goal list goes on and on and on and it doesn't include a number.

and at the same time, it is all about vanity..  at 165 I would still be moderately overweight

I think the goal thing is more mental than anything.  Dr.L never set a goal for my nor did Corrine.  I set a goal for myself at least 4 times: 1) to be under 200 2) to be 154 3) to be 1/2 of my starting weight (143) 4) to be 125 I have met all these goals and am still struggling!!!  This morning I was 126.6 and when I got home I was 126.4???  I have no idea how that damn scale works.  I am wearing sizes I never dreamed of getting one leg into never mind my entire body.  I'm healthier than I have been in my life and feel absolutely WONDERFUL but still so unsure I'm finished.  Do I set a new goal?  I am being told by everyone, even people who don't know I had WLS, that I'm too thin.  I can't stop the losing and I'm getting frustrated that I want to stop because actually I don't.  Now, that's mental. Sorry for going off on this thread guess I needed to vent a little.
