EKG - ECG

Thanks to everyone that replied to my EMMC surgeon appointment question.  Everyone was very helpful...especially Carla and Julie who had EMMC and had to travel a bit as well.   I did have to look up what a EKG is.  I discovered it's called both a EKG and ECG.  After reading over the info on wikipedia I wonder if my low potassium will have a negative effect on things.  I take a supplement AND have upped my foods that contain potassium and still it's low. So anyway.....how long does the EKG test take?  I read 45 minutes to an hour and I also read about 30 minutes. Amber I also wonder if they do the ultrasound on everyone that still has their gall bladder or only it they feel there is need to.

Hi, I have had a few EKG and they took less then 5 mins.I also have low potasium but it didnt effect my ekg. What is a good way to get your Potsasium up?I also think they do ultra sounds on everyone even if you do not have a gallbladder.I go to CMMC maybe thats why things are different?

my EKG, last week took 5 mins. shave your legs, they put stickies on your legs and chest, you don't have to take your bra off all I did was unzip my sweatshirt and lift my paint legs, so wear something stretchy.   I also go to Dr. Loggins and I did have an ultra sound, but that also was very easy, took a little longer, had to pull my pants down on that one, they checked for clots in the groin area, Shave for that one too, hehe,  they are not bad at all, I had a nice looking guy rubbing my leg, I thought he wa****ting on me.  Damn was I fooled..

I had to have an upper quadrant ultra sound and also one on the legs for blod clots.

The ultrasound Dr Loggins did was checking for blood clots in the legs and had nothing to do with the gall bladder. Maybe that is because I already had mine out??

Hmm I didn't have an upper GI they did a upper endoscopy on me checking for ulcers and stuff like that.. They did do the barium thing after surgery to check for leaks though. Is that a GI series??

My EKG took about 5 minutes also  (as mentioned above...shave the legs...hahaha)  My gallbladder is already gone also, so I didn't have to go for an abdominal ultrasound.  I did have to have a doppler study done on my legs though (I occasionally have swollen feet and they wanted to rule out blood clots.)  It only took about 25-30 minutes...be prepared to have gooey legs..the gel they use is just great!!!

There are two diff tests. If they plan on doing a Echo cardiogram those take about 45 mins to an hour. It is sort of like the upper endoscopy except you are more awake through the process and they are checking for problems with you heart. I used to think they were the same test til I had to have each test done. The Echo cardiogram is like a ultrasound they do from the inside out.
