What company did you use? I fall under a funny category...not disabled, not a child or a senior. And I think they only recently made the change for people in my category. They also changed their policy for MRI's. # years ago they paid for one and this year they won't unless you are an inpatient in the hospital. Budget cuts. Have you had yours for awhile or did you just get it recently?

Thanks Amberlee. I will call these places tomorrow and ask them. Am I right in assuming that you are not disabled and that you fall into the same category as I do for Mainecare?

TerrI! Please call DHS and ask to apply for MAINE CARE DISABILITY insurance!  ITs another form of maine care and it covers it, My cousin has cpap and maine care disability.  Its a seperate application that they do not tell people about!  I was working full time  when all my back and lung blood clot happened and had no insurance  and been through the  entire process.  Its just a loop hole,  I had a health care advocate tell me about it,  when I lost my maine care I was only on a spend down, then I qualified for the maine are disability, it also has higher income levels, It allows higher income guidlines so you wont lose benefits if you go over, PLus  you can purhcase it if you do I am. HUGE Blessing to me! and no one shares that, there are many kinds of maine care and you need to apply for this one through DHS they will send you an application.  Then  you can call Maine care services AFTER  you have applied to see if you qualified or how long it takes,  I would put the date of your sleep study your date of disability,  Obesity issues as well.  Keep me posted, IT saved me, I have blood disorder as well and  labs and meds, and was horrified when I lost my Maine care until they told me about this.      Blessings        BREATH GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF IT>> trust...  Allicca

Thanks for this info and I will look into it. The thing is, I don't think I would be considered disabled. There is really nothing wrong with me other than that which is weight related. Every single thing will go away (to a great extent) after I have this surgery. Of course, with all the talks of additional cuts in services, I am worried that MaineCare will cut surgery benefits before I have the chance to have it.
