walk away the pounds vs. treadmill
Okay. So I have been doing the walk away the pounds video since the beginning of my pre-op stage. I did 1 mile for a long time, included the balls (1 pound each), then went on to the 2 miles. I just did the 2 miles 2 days ago (I think it takes like 28-30 minutes0.
So today I decided to go on my treadmill instead while the babies napped. I did 1.1 miles and though I was gonna die. No seriously....sweating, I was read, heavier breathing, my heartrate was up. It took me over 20 minutes.
I never felt like I got this much exercise from the walk away videos. I never felt this type of breathing or sweat. And I did 1/2 the length. And....how can I be walking and do a mile in like 20 minutes, yet do 2 miles in 28 minutes on the DVD? I would have to be running away the pounds.
Does anyone else have experience with doing the tapes vs. a treadmill or monitoring how far you go outside etc? Are the walk away videos really 1 and 2 miles??
I had the speed on the treadmill between 2.8 and 3 mph and I only changed the incline to a bit harder near the end. So all this sweating was basically on flat ground.
I wonder if I should skip my DVDs and just stick with the treadmill for awhile.
I am joining fitness world soon (like in a week). We went on Sat during the storm and took a tour etc.
I personally think that if you would have done it the other way around your would have had the same results, it is different, jusing different movements, muscles etc. My mind plays mind games with me when i'm on the treadmill. I have to concentrate and it feels like forever. try doing a few days a week on each, that way your getting the best of both worlds. what ever your doing is wonderful. When i walked at home on dirt road, compared to the tar parking lot at the mall, compared to the inside of teh mall, it all was so different.
I get totally bored with one thing that is why I want to go to the gym. I love the walk away tapes but honestly you I get sick of the same routine. I do have two sets of her walk away videos that are both great so I alternate. I want to start toning now though so it doesn't hit me all at once. You are moving more on a treadmill for sure. I have been thinking about a exercise bike so I can read while I ride. I can't do that on treadmills cause I get dizzy lol
