gain weight this early out? Time of month change?
Hi guys! I know I should weigh myself once a week....but you know I can't stand it and have to weigh the same time every single morning. Plus this eating log has a place for a daily weigh in...so that's my excuse.
Anyways, I have actually GAINED 3 pounds in the past 2 days. How is that even possible? I have had between 400-600 calories and got in at least 48 ounces of fluids. So I started this morning (sorry if tmi).
Did you guys notice any gain during your time of the month? Did you notice days when you were up in weight....or is this very odd and I should call someone about it next week?
It's discouraging to say the least.
Tanya
I bought scales for my house a week ago,,never had them before because this is what i would be doing all the time is weighing myself..like you i weighed myself as soon as i got out of bed just to see if i lost the one pound i needed too. but my: oh my god just went out the window because i had gained 3lbs between yesterday morning and this morning..and i dont have my monthly any more..but instead of getting upset i just layed it on fluids or i hadnt gone poop yet. I probily ate to much chicken last night..who knows.
I really dont think its a good idea to have scales in the house they are evil..but just relax it is probily just fluid...
This is just my opinion the other girls might have some other info..your doing great keep up the good work and just relax going to have alot of ups and downs
Yeah I will gain a little or just stop losing with my pms. Which is happening right now GRRR!!! Didn't hit my b day goal but I will survive I will start losing again next week no biggie. If you can handle those occasional stalls and little gains I think it keeps you on track with your continuing losses.
It's just annoying I guess. You lose, you lose...then gain. And I am thinking, on 500 calories how in the heck is that possible?! I feel like maybe I am doing somethng wrong sometimes. I feel like I am hardly losing any weight with what I am eating. If I took my weight this morning (240) and what I was after bowel prep (251) that is only 11 pounds lost in nearly three weeks.
Started at 268
254 last pre-op appointment
251 day before surgery
240 today
(I was 238 at Drs office last Tuesday)
Just seems odd. I am gonna try not to pay attention to it. Keep exercising, keep eating and drinking right and I guess it will come off.
Hi Tanya,
Yup it happens ~ I gain almost 4 pounds before my monthly and loose almost 6 the following week.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/omg_smile.gif)
I bought a scale yesterday for the first time ever!! I usually weigh myself at work but since I'm changing jobs I need to have one at home. Since getting that **** thing I've weighed myself 4 times!! Each time I'm different.

Hi Tanya! The best advice that I can give you is not to weigh yourself everyday, but weekly and at around the same time of day (early morning is best after your bathroom trip) Of course, I don't take that advice myself because I am a scale *****!!
Of course, also your body is going through major changes and is holding on to every bit of stuff it can...

I am definitely not getting that in. Our food guide says to have between 400-600 for the first 2 months (which would mean I have 5 more weeks of 400-600 calories a day. Then our plan says 600-800 calories for months 2 -6.
I won't be getting 800 calories a day until mid August. Then it is 800-1000 for the first year.
My official weighloss for the week (I weigh on Monday mornings for the official) is 3 pounds. I just don't get it.
Tanya,
I can tell the frustration in your post and it's understandable
BUT, don't let it get you down!!!
Your body is making all sorts of adjustments right now. Weighing in daily isn't always a good idea (as it plays havoc on one's mind) but I can't talk as I find myself doing it frequently too!
I called Crystal, at Dr.Loggins office at one point BECAUSE I was getting frustrated and she gave me some sound advice. "Although it's good to weigh your self to keep your self on track (and on task) DON'T let it run your life! There will be stalls and minor gains on occasion but the point of a scale is to watch that the gains don't get seriously out of hand. The important thing to do is follow the eating recommendations in the booklet given to us by Corinne at the start of this process and exercise. The big thing is not so much what the scale says, but how one feels in one's clothes, etc. (When I called her I was SO frustrated as I'd plateaued for several weeks! But looking back on it, my clothes WERE feeling looser AND looking at the grander scheme, I had been losing and doing well.....just not in HUGE amounts as I had envisioned initially.) I have found that initially, during that "time of the month" I would tend to gain a bit but now that I'm 7 months out and down 100+ pounds, I don't seen to gain any during that time.
We are all different and our bodies react differently to stresses (surgery being a BIG one) Just make sure you are getting your fluids and protein in daily and that you get some exercise in as well to keep the muscles firm. ( I'm sure the kids are helping in THAT department
)
Feel free to pm me if you want. I know it's not always easy and I'm willing to help in any way I can.
Anne
