I just read on main board, someone asking for a grocery list for pre op, stage 1, 2, 3 and was thinking waht a great idea, if we all got together with idea, foods, drinks, for newbies.  so we can have on hand, and not get into a rut of eating the same foods.  I have alot of time on my hands, haha, as I"m sure you've all noticed, but would be willing to type it up, but I am missing one thing "knowledge".  what you guys think?  actually would be great for dr's to pass it out.

Your garden is beautiful!!!  My thumb is so brown.......I might do well in a desert!!! Now about the food list  - the concept is good but - there are a bunch of list somewhere on OH - including a food list - I do want to give you a word of caution - all food plans are not the same. There is even a significant difference between your doc and mine.  My doctor have a list that she has passed out by the NUT & PT.  Also now being newly on the other side, the advice that I was given to not get too prepared in advance was good advice - foods that you eat before surgery aren't necessary the ones that will taste good to you after surgery.  I was one of those gung-ho people and ended up wasting money on a bunch of crap I'll never use.

i agree with oceanlady. i bought 4 cans of cream soups and only used one. after having a half cup serving i was grossed out and now the thought of eating it makes me gag. same thing with pudding. i wanted chicken broth and now that makes me gag just thinking of it. my pouch needs gentle things and light things. the thicker shakes even make me want to gag so i've been mixing them with water rather than skim milk.

i know you want to do something nice for the newbies. i appreciate your efforts. if i could recommend anything it would be sf popsicles. i enjoy those. i even got sick of crystal light. after surgery it seems to make me more thirsty.
