the rules for the lap band are a bit different. you will have to eat slower but you can still eat anything as you won't have the dumping syndrome. your belly will be sore and swollen so he may ask for a couple of days of liquids but i can't imagine it would be for 2 weeks. you will have staples on the outside from the lap equipment. i have 5 little holes with anywhere from 3 staples to six in each one. my drain area is unstitched but has healed great.

your recovery should be a breeze. you must be so psyched about everything. i'm thrilled i did it even thought today has been tough.

where are you in the process?

LIsa, after watching you girls. I think I am at the end.  I have my appt. with Corinne on March 12th, everything else is done.  I've lost almost 11 lbs. and feel like I'm doing everything she wants me to.  so I'm hoping with INsurance approval wait, I should have my date before the end of March.  I'm ok, with liquids and whatever but I HATE eating foods that taste like crap, like those vitamins, I just had mine for the day, and I swear I can taste it in my nose. haha

my drain came out wednesday morning before they released me. it was no big deal. it is actually stitched to the skin so it can't pull out on it own. the little bulb was pinned to my nighty and was really soft so i hardly noticed it. i will warn it is about a foot long inside so take a deep breath when he pulls it out. it only took about a second and didn't really hurt at all. i was just surprised at how long it was.

haha, LIsa, my husband had a hip surgery 2 years ago and he had a catheter (which he didn't know he had until the next day), and HIs face reaction said it all. anyway, when the nurse pulled it out, he was like amazed it was in so far, haha, I think he was proud.......

mamag, you sound very close to the end. my insurance could have taken 14 days for approval but i was a squeeky wheel so was approved in a week. i bet you are all done with the process in april. that's was the longest part waiting for approval. corinne is great so good luck with your next appointment. make sure all your paperwork is back. crystal can tell you what is missing. that will help the process go quicker.

Ask Corinne when you see her next if there is a diff between the two surgeries as far as eating. And Kate the drain is no biggie. It is a good thing You really don't want that stuff pooling inside you. Don't worry bout it It doesn't hurt when its in it gets in the way a little but it really is no biggie.
