Gall stones

Has anyone out they ever found out they have gallstones, while waiting for WLS?

I had myine out after my 3rd child.  But I do know if you have your gallbladder Dr. Loggins has it checked.

Can it be taken out at the same time as WLS? 

I wouldn't think so if you have laparoscopic surgery, but if you have open surgery it can.

Dr Loggins had said to me that if they found gall stones that they would remove the gall bladder at the same time.

I was also told that I had gallstones and that they would check my gallbladder at the time of my surgery.  I never knew I had them, I thought that was wierd, I would think if I had them I would of had some signs.

I had mine for about 20 years but where I have a high pain tolerance I just thought I had something wrong with my back .. Oh well my gall bladder came out last may.

I had my gallbladder removed in January of 07.. I am pre-op. I  was having bad attacks..they hurt...Do you have gallstones?  I've heard a lot of people talk about having their gallbladder removed during WLS....I had my Gallbladder  taken out  laproscopicly...they crush the stones first and then squeeze the whole gallbladder right through a tiny hole...Mine is like three quarters of an inch long...amazing stuff! -Jen

I had lap RNY and had my Gall Bladder taken out at the same time. My surgeon has you go for an ultra sound when you 1st start the program to see if you have gall stones. I did and I also had a blockage and they said my Gall Bladder showed signs of hardening (whatever that means), so he took it. I don't even notice it's gone. ~dori~

Yup, they will take it out when you have a RNY laproscopically - I was hoping mine would go along with this surgery to just get it out of the way, but no such luck.
