Hi everyone. This is my first post. I have just recently begun the process to have Lap Band Surgery. I have ben struggling with this decision for some time but after a year on WW with very minimal success, I decided to have the surgery. I am nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. I will be seeing Dr. Carroll. Any advice would be welcome!

Welcome!  I didn't have a band, nor know anything about Dr. Carroll, but I wanted to welcome you.  This is a great place for support and has really helped me during my process.  These ladies have been amazing (I say ladies as I don't see many, if any, men on here). A bunch of us are going to get together during the summer, and some of us have met each other already.  Keep us posted on your progress in the process----welcome!

Hi Bridget! Welcome to the Maine Forum!!  I also have not had the band or know of Dr Carroll. Where does he practice?  But you will find we offer much support in our little forum!  Keep us posted on your journey!! We also are planning a summer outing this year, so we hope to see you there!  More info on it will be coming...

Hi Bridget & Welcome!!  As with the others I don't know Dr. Carroll nor did I have a lap band.  However, we can support you through this too.  I believe we have a few here who have had or are planning to have the lap band.

All your feelings are normal and I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say we felt them too.

Hi Bridget!!! Welcome to the Maine Forum!!!  As others before me have said, I can't offer any advice on the band - I had RNY - except follow the rules your doctor gives you. There seems to be as many different rules as there are surgeons!!! Look forward to hearing more from you, although our surgeries are different - our struggles are the same. Candace

Welcome Bridget, I can't believe all the new people on the Maine Forum just this week.... I am also looking into the Lap Band, with Dr. Loggins in Lewiston.  HOw far along in the process are you.  I am hoping Mid March for Surgery if all goes the way I want it to. hehe, don't always work that way.  Good Luck  Cheryl

I have just started the process with Dr. Carroll. He practices out of SMMC in Biddeford and has been doing gastric bypass for many many years. He started doing the lap band about a year ago. He is a close friend of my personal physician and was highly talked about at an info session I attended with former and current patients.   It is great to know there is a board of Mainers at all stages of the process to rely on.

Welcome Bridget, I am new here myself. I hope to have the surgery in the early summer and I am in the midst of all my appointments right now. You will find a wonderful community here so don't be afraid to ask and answer questions and tell us about yourself on your profile page. (Perhaps you already have and I haven't checked!)
