I passed my 2 week checkup - lost a total of 20lbs since surgery.

So I have been able to eat all those foods in my title as well as an egg - without any problems....ok....a tiny problem, I ate too fast and man did that ever hurt!!! This is one of the things I was looking for the pouch to help me with - so I say it's a success!

Went shopping with my friend Allie yesterday between and after appointments - we had a blast - but I was totally exhausted when I got home. Then today I had to go to my parents house to tell them that I had the surgery - I'm 51 years old, and this was the hardest part of the whole process of having the surgery - but at least that's done now.

And I'm tired again tonight....tomorrow I'm planning on a nice quiet at home day.

Ocean lady, Funny you would mention telling your parents as the hardest part.  I have been dreading telling mine that I have decided to have the RNY.  I told them last night and it went better than I expected.  My dad was very supportive (he has always struggled with his weight) my mom....not so much but I think she will  come around. I am 42 years old and I can't beleive that was so hard..I guess no matter how old you get your parents opinion always matters!!

Kelly, I'm 51 and I don't think it ever ends - it's more my mother than my father. Her response was "it's about time you did something".  Sometimes I just have to shake my head. How far along in the process are you? Candace

I have been to the new patient seminar, had the two hour consult with the office staff and Dr. Loggins and I am scheduled to start my nutritional counseling tomorrow. I still have to get an endoscopy, echo, ekg, labs, psych eval, and chest xray. Dr. Loggins seems to think it will be 2 to 3 months before surgery.  If I can't get it done by April 30th I am going to wait until the end of June.  My youngest daughter is graduating from high school on 6/8 and I don't want surgery to interfere with that.

I am not telling mine until after it is all done.  I know they will not support me.  My husband and friends do though.   I have had more coworkers give me a hard time about it though.  They all think because I have been able to lose 35lbs I should be able to keep going.  If that were the case I would not be were I am now.   It really gets old hearing it.

Although the situation isn't so nice, it is nice to know I'm not alone. I waited 2 weeks after mine was done until I told them.

I have heard the same thing...I have been doing WW for the last year and lost 37 pounds.  Of course now it is creeping back on but no one seems to understand that!

That's great!  I cannot wait to have something---anything--besides liquid.  Although the pudding I had the other day was not as pourable as it should have been, but I was out with no way to thin it.  It settled fine.  I haven't had any issues.  I am dying for some soft cheese...like the laughing cow kind or something

I have decided not to tell my parents at all. not because they wouldn't support me, but because I don't want them to worry.  my dad is 83, and not well and gets himself all worked up worring about us. so i don't want to make him sicker. and my mom, well, if I told her she'd tell him. so it will be fine that they don't know.  I am having the lap band and will loose much slower then RNY so they will just think I'm on another diet. (they've seen enough of those). hehe  my sister, kids and DH know. and I hope that is it unless someone slips.  I can't handle wise remarks or opinions.
