I'm home

So I got out at 1pm today.  We got an early start in the water and I think the weather had everyone working trying to get me out early.  Everything went well!  Of course trying to get comfy in that bed was not easy, but I made do. I am just sore now, but other than that feeling ok.  I have a big high bed, so I think we realized after my nap I might need to figure something else out.  That was touch to get out of!. I get to start on the protein drinks tomorrow, just clear liquids today.  I haven't really wanted anything, but I think because I already had tons of iv fluids in me.  Tomorrow will be important for me to monitor my intake.  I think I am going to have to make sure I go real slow.  I didn't have an issue with the water test of it going down hard. Thanks for all the cards.  I can't wait until the soreness goes away so I can be moving around more.  Feel free to pass along any advice for the first few days.

lol Tanya I had the same problem with our bed. I got one of the kids step stools. I am so happy you are feeling good. Do you have a recliner you can sleep in? They work well after surgery like that.. Just go slow and you will be fine. Try to get in your protein and fluids but also rest when you need to. Oh if you have not taken off the bandages yet do it except for the drain one. They will heal faster uncovered.

Yay!!! Tanya's back!!! Glad that you are doing well.  Ugh, the IV fluids - my hands looked like they were rubber gloves blown up for 3 days after being at home. Lets say the toilet and my choice of toilet paper were critical in relieving myself of the IV fluids.  I just keeping sipping all the time and haven't had any problems getting in my protein and water - the only issue I had was liking the protein drinks as we know...got my Achievone now and am a very happy camper. I've probably said this before, but the best advice I got was to get plenty of rest at first and don't hesitate to take the pain pills if you need them. Welcome to the Loser's bench, Candace

Glad you are doing so well, Tanya. Take it as slow as you can (tough with babies I know) and feel the love and support this group is sending your way...

Welcome home Tanya and Welcome to the loser's bench!  The advise about "taking it easy" is right on the mark. The soreness you feel will go away as your body takes on the job of healing itself. (I felt bloated for the first week when I got home. I just could not get myself to burp up the gas they use during surgery! That was my big problem.) I too have a fairly high bed but just learned to ease in and out of it. It felt SO GOOD to be back in a bed that was comfortable that I wanted nothing else. Again, Tanya, let your body guide you. Rest as much as you can, keep up your fluids, and take any pain meds you may have discussed with Dr. Loggins, if any, when you need them. The body does not like to be invaded upon and, due to the fact that we all "abused" our bodies by getting fat, it needs a bit of pampering to make it realize that it has been given a new lease on life. I'm sorry I was unable to go visit you but my hours at Hannaford have been increased due to another employee's departure and the hours vary to some degree. Thanks for checking in with us and rest assured you're still in my prayers. Welcome to the wonderful journey of weight-loss ! We're all glad you could finally join us on the loser's bench! Anne
