Exercise after surgery?

So at my pre-op mtg she said I could start exercising (walking) right when I got home.  I mentioned walk away the pounds and she said---well not that kind of walking.  Wait until after my 2 week follow up.  So what exactly is walking/exercise for the first few weeks?  I have a treadmill downstairs, but I don't see how that would be different from the walk away the pounds (if you skipped your arms).   Can I use the treadmill?  Is it supposed to be a slow speed?  I am unclear as to what I should/should not do.  Also---if I can just plain walk---say around the block--is it okay to push a stroller (with 2 babies in it)?  It isn't lifting, and it is not hard to push.  Of course only if snow melted-- What did you guys do for exercise after, what did your docs tell you was ok/not ok?

Walking on a treadmill is fine, in fact they encourage a lot of walking. I was in super walmart walking around for hours 2 days out of surgery.I wouldn't think pushing a carriage would be out, but check with your surgeon.  I guess this all depends on the individual. I go to curves and I was cleared to go back after 4 weeks.

I bet you could do the mile walk away without the weights with no problem.. But do what they say.. I waited til my 1 week post op check up to start my exercising cause they cleared me to go ahead just start slow is what they said.
