It's real--have my surgery bracelet

Cool, huh? The bracelet got annoying, but they told me if I took it off that they wouldn't do surgery! That sucker stayed put, I'll tell ya! LOL The shots aren't bad ... I was able to give them to myself even though I REALLY hate needles! It's so not a big deal! My husband came with me and stayed the whole time. He was with me until the wheeled me in - then he was in the waiting room. :) The liquids aren't SO bad. Saturday was bad (I had to miss my mother-in-laws birthday party at a fancy restaurant, I SO wasn't going there! THAT was hard because I so wanted to go! :(   ) Saturday I was hungry for sure - but then the bowel prep on Sunday was SO horrible that I didn't think about it much! Honestly, the bowel prep was the worst part of all of it .... I can STILL taste that crap. I can't wait to see Corinne ... I bet she looks SOO cute!

Congratulations on getting your band!!! I agree with Summer, the worst part was the bowel prep...I gag just thinking about that nasty stuff. My surgery was the day after Easter...my favorite meal in the entire world was boiled dinner and that's what my family always has for Easter dinner .  But, it was well worth eating jello for dinner!  My husband was with me up until they wheeled me away to get anistetia (sp sorry).  He went to Marden's  then waited in the waiting room for me with my girl friend who got there after work.  The kids were able to stay the night at daycare so he stayed in town. I can't wait to see Corinne on Thursday for the meeting.  I actually have a hair appointment for that afternoon so even though you a all haven't seen me before I will be sporting a new do at the meeting too.

The clear liquid diet will be ok - it's only for a few days, I know you can do it. (all the while remembering last week at this time going to bed with a growling stomach) Phew.....shots.....that scared me, I don't like shots - I can't imagine ever having to give them to myself.  You're on the big countdown now girl!!!!

I do have to agree the bowel prep was horrid just like drinking the ocean. Wicked salty and nothing covers that taste either.. First one I put in juice dang I think that made it worse. second one I did straight. Still makes me wanna gag. All I can say is drink it fast plug your nose and down it lol...

I guess it is six of one or half dozen of the other.  I don't have to do the bowel prep (YEAH) but I have a 2 week liquid diet.  I am not sure which is worse. LOL.  But I do know that I will have more advance notice when I get my surgery date (at least 2 weeks).

Great news! You must be getting wicked excited!!!! I hope to be a few days behind you. How long is the liquid diet? What did they prescribe for you?

Just clear liquids Saturday and Sunday---nothing after midnight Sunday.  And crystal said---even though you might have heard you can have ice chips.  You can't until after your test on Tuesday---bring chapstick!  I am gonna be THIRSTY going from midnight Sunday to Tuesday! Prevacid prescrip for a month.  The script for the bowel prep stuff.  Then these tables (just to take during the bowel prep time), and then the script for all those nice injectins we have to take.  4 in all.

You may want to call and check that again.  Usually it is Midnight the day of surgery not more than 24 hours before.  They will not want you to be dehydrated for the surgery.

It is midnight the day of.  I call midnight Sunday (the one before Monday am).  If that makes any sense.  SO I will stop drinking after all day Sunday and the clock stricks 12 (sunday night/monday morning) for surgery on monday. I confuse myself half the time.

Yeah Dr Loggins puts you on a major dose of antibiotics to take after bowel prep.. Reason being you wipe out even the good bacteria in your intestines with the bowel prep.. Funny thing is I was fighting a cold the weekend before my surgery Monday morn not even a sign of a cold. What didn't get flushed away lol the antibiotics got..  I was hooked up with IV and all the day of my surgery don't ya know I was still having the OMG I gotta go now feeling.. Too funny that stuff is powerful . The Nurses were super sweet. Beds are way horribly uncomfortable.. I think they want you up and moving ha ha.. Oh if anesthesia makes you sick. Ask for the motion sickness patch for behind your ear right away.. I was so sick that first night omg not from surgery but from anesthetic. I didn't get up and move til the next day. That patch made the whole difference for me. The other stuff just made me sleep.. Nurses were wonderful through it all so sweet.
