CMMC before surgery ?'s

Okay---so I have some questions for all of you that have already had your surgery. 1.  Can you bring a laptop, does the hospital have wireless there---would I even feel like jumping on to (should I bother bringing it). 2.  Anything besides some slippers, chapstick and a robe (and toiletries of course) I should bring? 3.  If my surgery is Monday, would I likely get out Wednesday as long as everything ran smoothly? 4.  How soon after surgery did you feel good enough to not be laying around on the couch.  Up and moving like a normal day (except no lifting or any workouts etc)? (I wanna know how soon I will get back to playing with the babies) 5.  Anyone else freak out like you need a gazillion post its around because you feel like you are going to forget everything you have learned. 6.  I have protein bullets, any whey and 2 containers of whey gourmet (mint chip and choc peanut butter).  I have cream soups, jello, pudding, popsicles, water---anything else I should get last minute? Anything else you can think of for a tip please let me know.

I got cream of asparagus, cream of chicken and cream of mushroom.  I think I will have to blend the mushroom though maybe.  Check the labels.  I originally picked up the healthy request version of campbells with the lower sodium.  But the other ones (green stripe on label says 98% ff) have less fat. I also picked up some sodium free chicken and beef broth (it is a powder you just add water too.  It is in a green (or red for beef) box that is herb ox brand. I have some sugar free savinci flavored syrups here too to flavor things (hazelnut, caramel and vanilla).  I also got mocha flavored splenda.  You just never know.  I figure be prepared in case you like nothing ha ha.   I am also going to buy some micellar mil (wish they had the vanilla but everyone seems to be out or it is the old batch).

I sure didn't feel like doing anything right after my surgery.. I was sick from anesthetic .OOF  Tuesday you won't even be able to drink or brush your teeth.. Wednesday morning they will take you for the leak test exray..  Than in the afternoon Wednesday when they are sure you have no leaks they will give you 16 little ounce cups to drink over 4 hours sipping one over 15 mins.. When they know you can handle drinking and are not sick You can probably go home.. I would leave the lap top at home..  I was moving alot once I got home and sipping all the time I was awake my first night home I just wanted to sleep though ... Gonna warn you those beds are horrid. Maybe you could get some tea just in case warm things settle better.. I just did the ff low sodium broth with unflavored protein.. My surgery was at like 1:30 pm on Monday and I was out by 4 pm Wednesday.. Oh one more thing RELAX!!!! You will be on clear liquids over the weekend with the bowel prep on sunday .. Make sure you have vaseline or Prep H wipes.. You will need them trust me.. After my first run I sent hubby to store lol .  Desitin would work too forgot bout your cute little bundles.moving is the key to healing so the more the better as long as no lifting reaching and that sort of stuff.. Oh When they say you can take the bandages off when you get home except for you drain one Do it they heal better with the air.. First day or two walk around with a pillow in hand.. Coughing HURTS ... I have found through my many surgeries that if when you feel like coughing stop squat and bend a little it takes the pressure off your belly and doesn't hurt near as much as if you just stand..They will have you shower the night before and wash with this special cleaner. Also the morning of you will wash with same stuff... I think my brain is exhausted now hope that helps..

Hi Tanya, Let's see: 1. CMMC does have wireless but you need to make sure to ask first just in case your computer will interefere with hospital equipment...they also have a library that has internet access computers 2. I think you got it covered 3.  If all goes well you should be home Wed.

4. I didn't have a routine surgery and post-op but from what I've heard you should be back to feeling good by the end of the week!!  Those babies will keep you busy and great exercise too.

5. I had a list in every room, 3 at work and 2 in the Jeep.

6. Do you have a supply of dixie cups?  I found them so useful because a regular cup either got too warm because of the volume and slowness to drinking.

Sounds like you have it covered!!

Oh milk ~ I suggest getting a small container of soy or rice milk.  I can't tolerate the sugar in milk as some others can't so just in case it's a good idea to have another option.

Take care,

Stephanie
