It seems to be very individualized. I can't tolerate more than 8 - 10 grams of sugar or sugar alcohol combo per serving.  This intolerance makes my choices VERY limited.  I am not able to tolerate most fruit or fruit juices because of the high sugar content.  I've been sick on grapes (w/out skin), apples, strawberries, and peaches.  I HAVE eaten pineapple, bananas and today 1 orange slice without trouble but usually, like today, it's been only one bite or piece.  I'm very deligent about checking labels because I dump so easily.  Keeps me in line though or I'm afraid I'd be experimenting too much.  But...I have a co-worker who can have up to 16g of sugar per serving and she is just 3 weeks behind me????  Go figure.   Good luck with Corinne ~ she can be tough and I left her in tears on several occasions = just a warning.  Let us know how it goes...as if you wouldn't

I've actually YET to dump and I'm 4 and a half months out. I don't seem to have a problem with fruit at all in any quantity - I went through a 2 week phase where I was eating LF cheese and fruit for lunch every day - I was simply CRAVING fresh fruit and needed it BADLY! I've eaten pineapple (fresh and canned), honeydew, cantalope, watermelon, pears (canned), mandarin oranges (canned), clementines, bananas, and grapes (both skin on and off). Absolutely no problems. I haven't tried juice because it's such a waste of calories. I stick to decaf tea (hot and iced), water and crystal light. I use the CL when I want a "juice type" drink. I've had no problems with sugar alcohols either - have even eaten sugar free chocolates and candies (russel stover, SF Resees cups, SF York Peppermint Patties, SF life savers, SF mentoes, SF altoids etc.) with absolutely no problem! It's amazing how different everyone is ... even those of us who have had the same surgeon! Don't worry about Corinne. I don't understand when people call her tough either - I'm an easy crier too, but every meeting I had with her was so upbeat and positive. I just did everything she said and was highly motivated - never had a problem with her! I really like her! She's the greatest!

I should clearify the i REALLY  like Corinne too.  I followed her directions to the T and she was always pleasant but I came away in tears on two occasions I think more of stress than her.  But, I've had some discussion (argumentatively) with her pertaining to my horseback riding as exercise.  She doesn't think it's hard and I completely disagree as I'm a competitive rider not just a passive I sit there and the horse does all the work.  Anyway I just wanted to clearify that I like her and think she does a great job in the 1-1 sessions.

I'll be 18 months post op next Thursday and I eat fruit everyday. When I started out I was affraid of fruit and veggies because they hurt my pouch, but by the 5th month I was eatting them ALOT. lol I'm ok with all fruits that are raw (even with skins), but I have a hard time still with dehydrated fruits. I tired dried blueberries when I was a year post op and I dumped so bad, so I've been to affraid to try them again. I can tollerate dehydrated bananas chips. My best friend has a dehydrator and shes always making stuff but I'm usually to scared to try it because I'm affraid it will make me dump. I drink juice, but only unsweetened juice and no citrus juices of any kind. I try to limit myself to 1 glass a day with lots of ice. I still like chewing on ice (its weird but I have since the surgery). The ice also helps water it down some. I try not to drink more than 1 glass a day because of the calories. I'd rather eat my calories than drink them. I usually drink Crystal Light (the walmart brand has soooo many flavors to pick from) and flavored waters that have no calories (I don't drink water if it has calories added to it). I eat 5 grams or less of sugar per serving. And I also look at the labels and if sugar is one of the 1st three ingredients I won't eat it because I dump so easily. I had tomoato soup and dumped off that when I first came home from the hospital so I've been very good about reading labels since then. I also eat sugar free candies like Summer mentioned in her post. I've looked but, I can't find the sugar free Mentos that she mentioned. Can anyone tell me where they get them? When I eat the sugar free candies I can only eat a few because if I eat to much Splenda I get sick, not as bad as dumping but I still get sick.  ~dori~

I too really like Corinne. Yes, she may seem like a task master at times, but it's because she has the knowledge to help us all get where we're going. Her "bark" is is worse than her "bite" as I find her very easy to get along with. If you are willing to listen to her and take her advise to heart, she has no problems. If you buck her all the way...........you may very well not see the light to day with regards to surgery!  Had my 6 month follow-up with her and with Dr. Loggins on Thursday and, although I'm doing extremely well, Corinne still had a few suggestions for me. A tweak here, a tweak there....it's better then living the life I was before I had surgery. As for fruits and juices. I LOVE my fruit and have had no problems having it. I enjoy blueberries and find that, in the bathroom visit following my having had blueberries, I can tell I've had them because of the little "pellets" I see but I get the nutritional value nonetheless. I eat my fruits in small quantities. As for juices, I asked Corinne about that on Thursday as I really enjoyed apple juice (before surgery) she says I can go ahead and have juice, as long as it is unsweetened and/or low calorie. I've found a number of them on the market and have picked up a few to try. I plan to dilute it with my water (half and half). I can't say I've NEVER dumped but the very few times I have, it's been very minor. I am now better able to gauge how far I can go with different foods.and I never eat until I FEEL full. (To me, that would be pushing it!) Keep us posted on your visit with Corinne. I KNOW all will go well. Take Care, Anne

Thank you all for that great info, it really is so individualized, isn't it?  I think I got it with Corinne, gonna kiss her butt on Wed. haha... so I can go through this process fast.  I'm just kidding, I am really having a hard time with the 10%, not even sure if I"ve lost 3 lbs.  been tracking, exercising, water 64-80 oz a day.  Just my body, i've NEVER had a hard time loosing till the last 2 years.  I"m actually wondering if I am doing everything right now and I have WLS I might not be able to loose then.  Steph, as for the horse riding being good or bad??? I agree with you, they tell you to move and your movin, better then sitting on the puter all day, like i'm doing right now.  hey, do you know a girl named amber that works with horses in Durham??  Well, you all have a great day.  Cheryl

In the first 2 months i could not eat it. Then when they told me I could have watered down juice. Now after 16 months I eat like a whole orange. That has become my friend since I have been having touble with LOW blood sugar. I woke up last night feeling so shaky and I took my BS and it was 46 yikes !!! Had an orange and I was ok.  Follow your doctors rules !!
