Did anyone watch Dr Phil tonight?
I must say, though I thought I was prepared for the amount of loose skin that would hang for many of us who are older and have so much to lose, I was really horrified to watch that woman at the end of today's Dr Phil show how she had to struggle to tuck it into her pants when she dressed. Does anyone here have to do that? The plastic surgeon said it was 30-35 pounds worth of skin she was trying to tuck in. I know that will be me since I already have a large abdomen and 150 pounds to lose, and I am not sure I could pay to have it removed. I imagine it would cause terrible rashes and chafing. Anyone else watch? ~MoodyBlueEyes
document your skin issues with your pcp and you can get your insurance to cover the panni removal. i'm not sure how long you have to have issues but i do know that is a health issue and they will do something for you. i have a feeling i will have loose belly skin too. not so worried about my arms and legs, just my belly.
I hears somewhere that you need to have kept weight off for a year before ins will cover plastics.. Not sure if that is all ins cos but worth checking into early if you think that will be an issue.. My skin is still quite elastic.. Not sure I will have a prob. but if I do I will just let ins cover it.. and try not to wear pants with zippers ouchie ... lol
Anthem Bc/BS says you have to have lost 100+ lbs, have documented skin problems that are not treated by medicine (documented by doctor, not home camera,) you have to be 18 months out from WLS, stable weight for 6 months (minimum) and you have to have skin that hangs below your pubic bone (they require pictures.)
I think I'll end up paying for it! Their policy is prohibitive...almost no one can have all that and wait the required 18 months...geez!!!
